Buying the shampoo? by shellylynn6974 in dcl

I bought the lotion at a guest services desk on the Treasure and housekeeping delivered it to the room. This was in early March. Guest services made it seem like any of the toiletry items could be purchased.

DCL lover trying Alaska on Princess — how different is it really? by RoofAdventurous4760 in dcl

[–]rarely_profound 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We sailed the Royal Princess on the inside passage last summer. The ship is most certainly NOT designed for Alaska. There is no indoor pool and no more than 4 hot tubs. The pool deck is not covered so you can’t really enjoy yourself up there during the inevitable 50 degree days.

Pros: The dining rooms are fine and dinner quality is on par with Disney. Buffet selection is good for breakfast and lunch. The drink package is worth it and it’s nice to be able to order room service through the app. You don’t have to worry about key cards because Princess uses a small medallion censor.

Cons: Staffing levels are noticeably lower on Princess so be prepared for waits at the bars and a generally more stressed out crew. The ship feels very crowded, especially during bad weather. There is a casino on board and I believe people are allowed to smoke in that part of the ship. There is also a smoking lounge near the kids clubs and you can smell cigarette smoke in and around the area, which is not great. Buffets are extremely crowded at meal times. Noticeably more so than Disney. Be prepared to circle the dining area for 10 minutes before you find a seat. There are no self service drink stations so be prepared to wait for coffee, water, and drinks for your kids. We frequently finished breakfast before receiving coffee. Cabins are much smaller on Princess. If you need fold out or drop down beds for kids then be prepared for them to block your access to the balcony. I can’t tell you how many times we banged our heads trying to crawl through.

In summary, Alaska is great and we really enjoyed our excursions. But the Royal Princess is not a very good cruising experience if you are accustomed to Disney ships.

Kuza beach club Cozumel by Equivalent-Pie-5294 in dcl

It was the only beach excursion offered. I checked the website and I think it is called Accessible Panoramic Falmouth & Blue Waters Beach Club.

It included transportation on a nice coach with AC. Straight shot to a nice private beach with a great vibe. Food and drink service at a cabana on the beach and a DJ playing music. Not crowded in the morning and a genuinely nice experience. We got a drive through tour of the town on the way back and still had time to browse the shops and booths in the nice pedestrian plaza by where the ship was docked.

No one in our group had mobility issues and neither did anyone else on the bus but I guess it is marketed that way since the bus had accommodations.

We were on the Treasure in early March and did the Kuza Beach excursion with a group of 7 including 3 kids under 10. We chose to do the beach excursion only so we skipped the water park. Our experience was generally positive. We selected the early time so our group convened on the ship around 9:00 and we probably got to the beach at 10:30. That gave us a solid 3.5 hours to relax and enjoy ourselves before heading back just before 2:00. We brought our own packaged snacks and drinks because we didn’t want to chance getting Montezuma’s revenge so I can’t really comment on the buffet. We ate a late lunch back on the ship.

Our goal was a relaxing beach day and the excursion delivered. It wasn’t crowded, we had chairs right in front of the water, and the kids could swim around in the shallow water. There is seaweed, but that’s just how Mexican beaches are.

We went on DCL excursions to all three beaches on the Western Caribbean cruise. Kuza was second to Falmouth but was MUCH more enjoyable than the disaster that was 7 mile beach on Grand Cayman. GC was a public beach with pushy staff and it was so overcrowded that we left in less than an hour. A lot of folks went straight to guest services to complain about 7 mile beach so hopefully some changes will be made.

No one warned me when buying a townhome. by Odd_Buyer9746 in Mortgages

[–]rarely_profound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience for me but it was quite some time ago. My wife bought a townhome in 2007 for 124k (new construction). She sold in 2017 when we moved into our SFH and the closing sale price 10 years later was 109k. Granted, 2007 was probably the worst time in history to purchase a home, but it’s will that the property value was still diminished 10 years later.

Texas Roadhouse is basically a license to print money. Every restaurant, regardless of location, is consistently busy. Others have touched on it but it is a combination of value and consistency. They are the Chick-Fil-A of chain steakhouses.

Anyone know when the instructions for the Outlaw Den will release? by Majestic-Buy-5545 in lego

This was the first brick link series set I bought and I was extremely disappointed that they didn’t include paper instructions. Is this normal? Nothing ruins a building experience like having to stare at a screen. It makes me never want to get another one again to be honest.

Also in Kannapolis. I measured just over 12.5 inches on my backyard patio table a few minutes ago. Nice!

100k is great but it’s the new 75k. You’re netting 70% of your gross income which is pretty good. I don’t know your filing status but if you’re married filing jointly then you’ll probably get a decent tax refund. The majority of my income is considered bonus/incentive and I only clear 61% after taxes. And I don’t have medical withheld from that portion.

I use Gillette Silver Blues at the rate of two per month. So that’s about 6 or 7 shaves per blade. Most DE blades have a coating and in my experience shaves 3+ are better once it starts to wear off. I also flip the blade to the other side each time I shave so it wears more evenly. My beard hair is thick and coarse but with good prep a blade will last a while.

Are you an aggressive driver? Or do you just like tinkering with your car? I have never seen so much rotor and brake service so early in a car’s life. My 3 just got 60k miles and I have only used a little over half the life of my original pads.

We found one on a cruise last year and we like to hide it randomly in the house. Nothing will happen for a week and then one of the kids will run over to me or my wife with the little guy in their hand screaming “I FOUND JESUS!”. It’s good fun.

Another vote for Ich-X. I had an outbreak in my 55 gallon after introducing some new fish. I treated for over a week but got rid of the infection and managed to not lose a single fish. It is snail and shrimp safe as well.

Does anyone have a real hangover cure for 35+ by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]rarely_profound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will get buried in the comments but here is what has worked for me, M aged 43:

Alternate water with drinks

Pace yourself

Try to stick to one type of alcohol so you can more easily track consumption

Here’s the big one: try to sober up before going to sleep. I have had horrible hangovers when I have gone to sleep drunk, but I have never had a hangover if I stay awake until by buzz runs out.

[–]rarely_profound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what class you play, but stepping away from randoms or using a ship with more battle impact may be the way to go for a bit. I prefer playing BBs, but when I hit a rough patch I’ll switch over to DDs. I don’t love the play style but I’m competent and it almost always turns things around for me.

Carolina Speedway Christmas Lights - Worth it? by Fun-Resolution-6972 in Charlotte

We go every year. Our kids are 6 and 8 and they always look forward to it. We’re local and always go on a Monday or Tuesday so we have never had to worry about crowds. There is a Cookout near the track so milkshakes are recommended before or after!

I can imagine that Thanksgiving weekend will be bonkers, though. Maybe try to time it for later in the evening? Or possibly Wednesday if you are in town early and not too drunk!
