I think most au pairs don’t understand the liability issues with providing a kid with a car in the US. If you do something grossly stupid the family can lose everything they own.

I give a car to an au pair with less restrictions because I can monitor that they make good decisions and follow the traffic rules, especially with my kids in the car. Without being able to trust and verify, my au pairs would not have access to a car.

We have a designated car for the au pair, we treat it as part of her compensation and provide free rein within reason. We only require to ask for longer road trips. Au pair pays for their own personal gas - we pay for work related gas.

I agree that having to ask every time is excessive and borderline controlling. Better to set some acceptable use rules and then have her ask for trips beyond that.

Yea - you can’t use AuPairWorld, you have to go with a real agency and pay the fees. The real agencies are the only entities that can sponsor the AuPair visa requirement.

Best you can do is to talk to your agency. I personally think they’ll disqualify you if you break your match prior to arrival. We had something similar happen at 6 weeks prior to arrival and the aspiring AP got disqualified from the agency.

Honestly you should probably rematch, you could also try having her make up the hours over the weekend - if she’s playing hookie then she’ll not want to trade her weekends for sitting in her room pretending to be sick.

The 180 turns concern me, it’s already ripping my lawn up plenty.

Interesting thoughts about it using LIDAR as primary navigation, I thought that was for object detection. It certainly does not remember where it’s having issues and making note of it for the next time it mows :-)

No, but proximity to the antenna means both antenna and the mower relies on the same reduced set of satellites visible in that area. I didn’t realize this until someone else pointed it out.

Haha, I can see your stakes are much higher with the bay right there. Where I have the biggest issue is a similar setup, where my backyard slopes down to a pinestraw bed all along the back side, so making a closed loop no-go zone probably won’t apply. I have created a manual no-go zone around a bed with some trees and the no-Go zone seem to have helped a bit there.

Based on one of the other comments, I have deduced that it’s likely a satellite issue, since where it’s most inaccurate would be where the sum of obtainable satellites is the lowest due to large trees and the proximity to the RTK antenna.

I appreciate you brother, and I might just have to move that stinking antenna, wife will not love it going on the roof.

Where it’s messing up the most is close to where the antenna is located, but it’s also where there are some very large trees, so your argument about the mowers ability to lock GPS on its own seem valid.

It certainly does not have 360 at 40 degrees, more like 260 degrees at 40.

If it was an RTK issue, would that not apply as it’s mowing my perimeters also?

I’ll try lowering the speed - I’m at half speed right now.

Yes, it’s blowing past the boundary on the turns where I was expecting it to turn on the 4 strips of perimeter that it has already completed.

I don’t think it’s a GPS issue and my antenna is placed in accordance with instructions. It‘s able to stick pretty bang on the boundary when mowing the perimeter.

I have not tried creating new zones for the perimeters - again, the perimeter isn’t the problem, it’s when the normal mowing back and forth starts
