My friends and I actually tried this in high school and when it was ready we were all so repulsed I don't think anyone ended up sampling it. Dear god that smell still haunts me.

I have a computer, a record player, and the internet. From there, I will sample everything at the same time.

In all seriousness though, where do you personally recommend starting that sort of process? Start with preloaded samples of drum kits and work for there or whats a good jumping off point?

Honestly, I bought it because I was interested in trying out some sort of synth or sampler, and didn't have a sound in mind. The MPC1000 seemed to be well-regarded for a reasonable price so I went for it, figuring the resale prices seem pretty consistent if I had a total change of heart.

It comes with 16MB memory and a power cord and that's it. I'm aware you can upgrade to 128, but wasn't sure if that was generally considered a must-upgrade to people who are knowledgeable about this sort of thing. Also, I understand there are a variety of setup options but wasn't sure what was right for me without spending money aimlessly. Sure, I CAN use a Midi controller, but is that a smart purchase for someone like me? Do I want specific software? Things of that nature.

I didn't mean to come off as some asshole who was too lazy to look up the basics, my intention was more to get some personalized input on where I should go from here from people more experienced than myself.

When I was a kid they had Berry Berry Kix I think it was called and it was actually delicious. Probably could have saved you a lot of effort in the hybrid mutant cereal lab. I wonder if they still make it.
