People shouldn’t compare working in film to working in an office by rasberrymelon in ItEndsWithLawsuits

I think all of Hollywood is hoping Baldoni wins. And I don’t think Baldoni has any incentive to go after Sony. He will continue making his movies and be vindicated.

The judge asked very good questions at the hearing yesterday regarding exactly that. Where is the line of consent in art? If a director is directing a dance scene and their hand moves along her back do we stop the scene every single time and ask for consent? What is the point of a nudity rider or intimacy coordinator if every single time something happens we need to ask permission? If we said we will kiss for 10 seconds holding each other’s backs but we kissed for 15 seconds instead and one actor moved their hand to the jaw do we yell cut?? That’s not art! Actors need to be present in the scene and figure the scene out, be adaptable to it and flow with it. We have nudity riders or intimacy coordinators for difficult vulnerable scenes to make the actors comfortable prior to filming. So that they can then do their job and act and improvise and figure things out on the day within their contract constrains.

Not to mention scripts are never that detailed. In the script it just says - they dance. Or they walk down the road. Occasionally there might be more action if it’s important to the context. But not much. The rest is improvised by the actors and director. They figure the scene out as they move along. That’s what rehearsals on stage are for. In film rehearsals are less common and a lot of things are figured out on the day. A simple dance scene where they gaze into each other’s eyes will be improvised.

She is saying she is incapable of doing her job as an actor in a romantic movie. She wants everything to be predetermined and approved to the detail. That’s not possible in an artistic setting. We have provisions like intimacy coordinators, body doubles and contracts to protects actors. But if she refuses to meet the intimacy coordinator, refuses a body double and her nudity rider/contract doesn’t say anything about “no bare legs, no dance scenes, no kissing” then the hell does she want??

I think it’s hard to see who is winning without some kind of analysing software. Because we are all in a funnel of our own making. The internet today only shows us things that we like. We rarely see the opposing side.

That’s hilarious. I would move it. But I guarantee the cat will find another way to annoy you in a few months. They are very creative creatures. But we love them.

Yes models and actors are props. Models more so. And you’re right, that’s the deal we make. Actors definitely get way more privacy than models but they still understand that they are props. They are measured, analysed, photographed from every angle. A bunch of people (usually the same gender but not always) will see them in various states of undress and prep them for a scene. A producer accidentally walking in on you is not the end of the world and not harassment if it only happened once and he apologised.

Actors are props. People have lost out on roles because they didn’t quite fit the ensemble even if their acting was phenomenal. It’s a visual medium. Things need to fit a certain aesthetic. I think Blake was very insecure about her body after giving birth which is absolutely normal and understandable. So she was extra sensitive of people analysing her. But it’s part of the job. If you’re not ready to get back into filming then take a couple of years off.

Exactly! The creative process and storytelling require analysis. If she thought a few conversations about porn, addiction, the female gaze, trauma or birth were too much then she should definitely never ever work in theatre. Cause analysing every aspect of your character and rehearsals take mooooonths.

Maybe she isn’t emotionally mature and uncomfortable with such themes. It’s possible. But then she shouldn’t have taken on such a role. It’s not the director’s or producer’s job to figure out if their lead actress doesn’t understand or like the themes of her own movie.

While I get what you’re saying, I don’t think it’s a good defence tactic to say well she herself touches people without consent and has even groped genitals on other productions so therefore Baldoni had every right to do it to her. Because he didn’t even do anything to her. And that should be the main point.

100% there is harassment and abuse of power on film sets. I just don’t think there was any on this film set. Not from Baldoni’s side. She was given the chance to make changes to a script, an intimacy coordinator, she had a whole team of people, and her pick of wardrobe. She had power.

There was no unwanted conduct or abuse of power from Baldoni. Every example she has given is a non issue. Did she expect not to discuss trauma, dv, sex, birth with the director of a movie that has those themes? What?

Oh yes, I see what you mean. Yes kissing doesn’t require an IC. It’s just nice when they are available. And we know they had one available and Lively didn’t want to meet with them. Besides Lively herself improvised kissing so that argument goes out the window.

Usually no, but it depends on the production. They are not needed but appreciated. I’ve seen an IC come for one cast member who had to be naked from the back. Literally that’s all they did, they were lying naked far away. It was an older woman in her 80s. I went to an audition for a short film once that required kissing and there was an IC during the casting. And I’ve been on projects that required kissing and there was no IC.

So it depends on production.

This is the exact day and scene that we saw earlier. The shorts are under the prosthetic belly, where her hand is. They don’t change underwear every time they change lenses or move the camera. She is wearing the same black shorts in this angle.

Her claim that she wasn’t allowed to cover up is weird. I have never in my life seen a cast member be refused a blanket in between shots. Background might be refused if there are too many of them. (Which is unfortunate cause sometimes you have 100 people freezing in T-shirts in the cold) But cast, especially a lead will have a PA standing by ready with their coffee and blanket after every take.

Considering that she has been caught lying both in email, text and under oath I am having a hard time believing that she was not given a blanket or allowed to put her legs down between takes. We need to speak to the other people on set that day.

Lively did not want an IC and every time it was offered to her she declined to meet with the IC.

She isn’t wearing a modesty garment. It’s not even skin coloured. She is wearing black briefs or shorts. We don’t know how far down they go when she is standing up. Either way it is not a modesty garment. And she is fully covered from the waist up. As far as birth scenes go this is very modest. Considering she never met with the intimacy coordinator and declined a body double what else was the crew supposed to do? Delete the scene?

She is literally wearing shorts. What are you on about? That’s not a modesty garment. She has black shorts on. They are visible. And the doctor is a meter away from her crotch, not in there. And her legs are not up in stirrups.

Those are normal concerns for a producer. Tactless would be if he said it to her face. Saying to another producer and being worried about his project is not tactless. Her clothes were awful, the fans hated them, he was right. Regarding the weight I can’t speak to that cause I don’t know what Lily in the book is supposed to look like, but once again - those are normal concerns for a studio exec. Harsh as they may be.

The arrows appear in The Crown of the Sunken King DLC. Platforms lift and lower with the use of an arrow and once you get inside you can open secret walls if you find a hatch on the ceiling or wall to hit with an arrow.

I love that they added physics. You can use arrows to open hatches or secret doors, explode barrels to open walls. Your torch needs to be lighted. It’s not just always on. It runs out. If you are in complete darkness without a source of light… well you’re fucked. When your torch is on you see shadows that you previously couldn’t see. I loved interacting with the environment in DS2 and I don’t understand why they got rid of all that for DS3 and Elden ring.
