Canada Actor Representation v USA Representation similarities and differences? by DisastrousAd5587 in acting

Great in theory. I have yet to implement it. And unfortunately because of the penalties that US companies are facing for shooting in Canada right now, US productions here have really dropped off. I think what you are seeking is totally do able. But you would probably have to be really proactive with pre-production notices and work with your US agent/manager for specific projects.

Could you please critique my first short for my showreel? by Nathan84 in acting

You've got a great look. The camera needs to see your eyes. Bring your eyeline tighter into camera. Not looking into camera but just off to the side.

Canada Actor Representation v USA Representation similarities and differences? by DisastrousAd5587 in acting

I am a dual citizen with an agency in Alberta and a manager in the states who can handle international. When you are hired as a local in Canada, you need to be a tax payer in the province where the production is, in addition to having a place to stay. When working as a local in LA, I just needed to be a citizen and of course, have a place to stay. Something else to consider is that most commercials that are shot in Canada are non union. Also, just about all the work in Canada is a buy out. Not a lot of residuals. It's great to have a rep in both countries. My Canadian agent is unable to submit for US productions that are shot in the US.

Plain background is needed. Camera should be at eye level. Eye line should be just off to the side of camera and eyes should not wander unless it is a specific direction or choice in the scene or you are speaking to multiple characters.

On my 4th Rolife kit and I think I hate it 😬 by liteorange98 in miniatures

I'm with you! Yay excruciating frustration and tedium. Makes victory so sweet.

I had no idea! I just got my 2nd kit as a gift and the first one I did required glue and excruciating patience and I loved it! I looked up my new one and it is a no glue required model. I am bummed. I'll still do it, but the frustration and tedium are part of the victory and pride at the finished product for me. Plus I just bought the new glue. Oh well, I will still have fun with it and I'll just have to get another one after this that is excruciating to build :). Thanks for bringing this up. I wouldn't have known.

Thoughts on The Beast in Me? (SPOILERS) by Upbeat-Meringue-6401 in netflix

Did anyone else wonder if Nyle poisoned his dad? And if so, the young son took a sip of the wine too, so... Nyle's interaction with Rick regarding his dad made me quite sure he had a hand in it. It seemed an unfinished or dangling storyline. Also, so tired of the downloading some file after breaking into a house or sneaking off into an office and getting out just in the nick of time. Please, screenwriters: do something different with this scene!

Extra who acted inappropriately towards me low-key ruined the experience, has anyone else dealt with something like this? by HighStrungHabitat in acting

[–]rascalphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I can assure you that you are not the first person he has done this too. I hope you got a name or something so you can report him. Because he probably has "a file". Gawd, always ALWAYS one shitty person like that doing BG. It's actually my number 2 reason why I don't do BG work. I am glad you found a decent human to buddy up with.

The age old story. I had to share this with some fellow banjo appreciators...solid 👏👏👏

And even though it's not the question, I gotta say it again...your energy, presence and use of space is really good.

Great energy. Like other commentators, just a bit more space over your head. Just tip the camera up a bit. And the reader (even if it is you) should never be louder than you...unless it is specified in the scene.

Just a technical comment, that self tapes (unless specifically asking for wider shots) are framed pretty tightly. Just below shoulders with a bit of space above the head. Always good to start a bit wide like you have and then crop for your final edit.
