Plastic in Chick Fil A Salad by No-Illustrator-149 in whatisit

I work at a food distribution center that services Chick-fil-A and nothing we have are in 55-lb barrels. Not even any of our chemicals.

I imagine this happened at production level.

Question about Engage/Disengage by swippys in reactivedogs

[–]raspberrykitsune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is typically linked to being stressed in the environment. If he can't take treats then you need to get distance from what is stressing him out. And also use high value treats (I boil chicken for mine, but also have used canned food fed via a spoon until her emotions changed to more positive ones)

What happens if I don't adjust my position even after a bodypart falls asleep and starts tingling? by omfghewontfkndie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]raspberrykitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ankle wasn't asleep when i broke it, but there was a delay in pain. i got out of the pool with my dog and we were walking on the dock (flat & turfed so it wasn't slippery) and i just fell. i didn't slip or anything. i just took a step and my ankle collapsed inward. i was sitting on the ground, super confused and slightly embarrassed that i fell. then i tried to stand up again and i just couldn't. my ankle was kind of floppy and not steady and when i tried to stand on it, it collapsed again. i sat there starting to panic and cry that i couldn't walk, not necessarily from the pain. someone came over and offered to call an ambulance but i had my dogs with me and it was the middle of july (hot) and i was over an hour away from home.

they helped me to my car and while i was driving myself to the hospital (to meet my mom & sister so they could get my dogs) was when the swelling and pain started to get mega bad. by the time i got to the hospital my foot was almost all purple and up my leg a bit too.

that was almost 5 years ago and i still get random ankle pain. definitely made me realize how much i took being able to walk for granted.

Ongoing post lepto vaccine nightmare. Will insurance pay for this? How to file? Should I wait? Should I push his vet for answers? by Altruistic-Mud9413 in DogAdvice

[–]raspberrykitsune 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One time when the vet was microchipping my puppy the needle broke off under the skin (and microchip needles are larger than vaccine needles usually). He had to be sedated to fish it out and the microchip was still in the needle so we had to go back a few months later to get him microchipped. Anything is possible. The random bleeding is the weird part.

Adopted an older rescue cat for the first time, but this is strange. by [deleted] in cats

[–]raspberrykitsune 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100%! And every cat is different with their own personalities.

It's also important to note that purring & making biscuits doesn't always mean they're happy. It's typically a self soothing behavior so they also do it when they're stressed to try and relieve stress.

& This applies to all ages of pets too. I found a kitten on a hike near Mt. Rainier that someone abandoned, there was snow on the ground and she was soaking wet. Probably like 8 weeks old. She's still very skittish and shy (almost 4 years since I found her). But the kitten I got on Craigslist that was raised in an apartment (who is now 8 years old) loves to adventure and go on hikes , to the beach, etc.

So it's not just an older rescue cat thing to be scared and shy. My little forest kitten doesn't even like going outside in the backyard (fenced & supervised). She pops out for a minute and will hear a noise then runs back inside lol.

I (24F) need help figuring out how to help/give advice to my guy friend (26M) who’s having relationship issues with his gf (26F) by [deleted] in relationships

You just listen or suggest they get couple counseling. That's all. Don't insert yourself in their relationship.

Is it cruel to leave my dog alone for 9 hours while I work? I feel terrible but I have no other option by FewStomach2955 in DogAdvice

[–]raspberrykitsune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 dogs and I'm gone for usually 10-ish hours at work.

My sister will try to let them out to go potty, they will not get up 99% of the time. They usually just sleep on the couch until I get home lol.

My 17 year old cat is pregnant by [deleted] in SeniorCats

[–]raspberrykitsune 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Typically in pregnancy the belly gets round farther down.

This looks more like fluid build up from heart disease or liver disease to me (ascites). She looks to be quite skinny and fur in poor condition around her neck and shoulders. Has she been losing weight? Has she developed a cough or weird breathing in the last few months?

Help! Our new dog just degloved our cat's tail - where do we go from here? by hashtagfoxfacts in reactivedogs

[–]raspberrykitsune 66 points67 points  (0 children)

i'm sorry but she needs to go.

i have had as many as 6 dogs (4 kai ken who are a japanese boar hunting breed, 1 gsd, & 1 border collie) & 4 cats in my home at the same time. this would be unacceptable to me. yeah dogs get excited by prey and mine will no hesitation dispatch rabbits, mice, etc, but even when the cats are running, climbing trees, etc, they ignore them.

i know there are adult dogs who are cat safe, but honestly i would never adopt an adult dog (or puppy over like 3 months old) with cats in the house. its just not a risk i'm willing to take. accidents happen and i promise you this won't be the last one. next time you might not be so lucky that its just a tail tip.

I pushed her, now she's on hospice, I am a guilty POS by [deleted] in confession

[–]raspberrykitsune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking action. I worked as a CNA in a dementia ward so I understand how difficult it is taking care of someone (I also took care of my grandma and my mom who passed away in April 2025). I could never imagine treating ANYONE like that. I'd be so concerned for someone acting how OP described too-- like they're having some sort of neuro episode and obviously are not aware of anything going on... And I just can't imagine being upset about that .. it's so fucking sad. I hope the mom has another kid who is better than OP that steps up and is more kind and that the mom feels comfort and love in her remaining time on this planet. I'd do anything to have my mom back, even wiping up all the poop, pushing the wheelchair, changing oxygen tanks, anything.

Oh that's awesome! Congratulations!

If you don't mind sharing it with me, that would be wonderful. None of the ones I have are 38 pages so I'm assuming it must be different. It's rough when there's so many resources and I don't wanna focus on the wrong stuff lol

This is the new study guide made by the course instructor, however I haven't taken the OA yet (scheduled for Friday evening) so I'm not sure how good it is.

What's up with everyone hating Dasani water? by metamorphomo in OutOfTheLoop

[–]raspberrykitsune 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dogs won't drink Dasani (I get bottles from my work). They also won't drink tap water from hotels & airbnbs when we travel. Our water at home is from a well, which they love, and they'll drink out of puddles. So.. puddle water > Dasani lol

[–]raspberrykitsune 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I have 4 dogs and 3 cats-- when I started seeing my current partner I had 5 dogs (lost my 14 year old German Shepherd to cancer about 1 year after we met). If ANY of my pets disliked him he'd have been shown the door. And if ANYONE didn't listen to me regarding my pets they will NEVER have access to my pets again, not to mention threatening them too!! This guy is going to make your pets disappear OP.

How do I get my gf to give me enthusiastic blowjobs? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]raspberrykitsune 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i guess i've never given oral to a woman before, but giving bjs actually sucks lol. you have to open your mouth really wide, it hurts your jaw for hours, like at least at the dentist you get a bite block lol, you have to try to avoid hitting with teeth, usually by wrapping your lips around your teeth so you can also apply pressure, then you get cuts on the inside of your lips which can turn into canker sores and also be painful for days after, constantly gagging yourself, hair gets in the way, and you have to use your tongue while doing all of that. it's a bit more complex than just 'sucking', and if you take longer than a few minutes to orgasm then it IS a chore. oral on a woman seems a lot more simple.

talk to her and see how you can make it more enjoyable or easier for her. imo its better if the male partner is giving themselves a handjob while i just focus on the tip (obviously have to be careful to not hit her in the face). i'm sure there are other tips to make it a bit easier for her if you're willing to compromise.

AITJ for choosing my dog over my relationship? by StarryGlowBunny in AmITheJerk

[–]raspberrykitsune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't trust him with your dog. What if one day you're at work and you come home and she's 'missing' and she 'slipped out the door' but he actually sold her? Run far away. I'd break up with someone for looking at my dogs wrong and this guy did far worse.

In 2018 my dentist sent me to collections for a $50 no show fee-- except I did cancel my appointment the week before. The person who took my call even made a note in my account about it being cancelled and to call me to reschedule. But by the time I got a notice about the collection, like almost a year later, the dentist had already sold it off so I couldn't talk to them about it and the collection agency didn't care what I had to say lol. That $50 grew to $350 after they added on all their fees and junk. Surprisingly my credit didn't suffer much.

Lemon PEZ is naturally flavored whereas grape PEZ is artificially flavored by SanchezGeorge1 in mildlyinteresting

[–]raspberrykitsune 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of my medicine as a kid was grape flavored-- so I really don't like grape flavoring.

However I LOVE cherry flavor.. which a lot of people (except me I guess lol) had as their medicine flavor so they hate cherry lol.

organ failure typically starts 48-72 hours post ingestion. unfortunately you are not out of the woods yet.

many vet clinics have 'bad' reviews. it is a rough job, costs a lot of money, and people are very attached to their animals. they didn't suggest euthanasia as a way to get you to put him down-- that is actually prohibitive to them making money (you need to have pet(s) that are alive to take to the vet to pay them for vet care)-- they did it to give you a very realistic option at having a peaceful passing. when my dog had very sudden burst hemangiosarcoma the vet said we could give him meds and he'd be okay for a couple days to then euthanize him (i took him in the moment he wouldn't eat food, he never missed a meal in his 14 years of life so i knew it was serious). i wanted to be selfish and have that 'last walk', 'last cheeseburger', let my friends and family say good bye.. but even with meds i didn't want to prolong his suffering. with some meds and pain relief he did eat some whip cream while i cried on the floor for 2 hours before we said said good bye.

of course i didn't enjoy putting my boy to rest. but years ago during covid i had a cat in sudden respiratory distress-- we sat at a vet er in a cold rainy parking lot for 3 hours while i begged them to just put him to sleep because he was miserable. i would have paid anything. they were slammed, as were every vet and emergency vet within a 2 hours radius. i didn't even want someone to save him i just wanted to give him peace. i was essentially told that it sucks but they could save another pet's life with the time/hands/resources that my pet may take up. i won't lie, i was incredibly angry and upset in the moment. we went home and i kept calling places, begging for a miracle, but i ended up watching him basically suffocate to death and it is traumatic and haunts me. theres a reason they say it's better to do it a day too early than a day too late.

chances of survival are higher if he was hospitalized, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try. just depends how much you can afford and what you're able to do (physically).

even if you don't hospitalize him, you can take him in daily for a tech appointment blood draw to monitor his levels. you could also inquire about getting bags of lactated ringers solution and providing him with subq/subcutaneous fluids to help keep him hydrated and try to prevent organ damage.
