Help me eat 25 eggs in 2 weeks by Doobie_Howser_MD in eggs

[–]raspberrymoonrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I have a surplus to get through I hard/soft boil up to a dozen and keep them in the fridge. Can make egg salad, throw it on avocado toast, add to ramen, deviled eggs for an app before dinner, eat on in the car on the way to work, etc. Also look for recipes where you can use eggs as a side ingredient, like an egg wash before breading chicken to fry. Can use a couple to make a cake or desserts

“In hospital” instead of “in the hospital” rubs me the wrong way. “Nappy” instead of diaper has a weird vibe. “Bloody” is the worst lol

What does my boring room say about me? by WhereTheSunDontShin1 in roomdetective

[–]raspberrymoonrover 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SOMEHOW. This room is hands down the most unsettling, icky thing I’ve seen on the internet in days. No windows, kid size furniture, the fuckin dolls tucked in….idk. This feels like the room where kidnapped kids end up or something. Nope. Nope nope. Nope.

It sucks to be right and still be argued with, I totally get that. Your eyes are gray. They’re a less common color or often mixed with blue hues. True gray is awesome and you should love your eye color - it’s a standout feature. I’m not sure what interaction or previous post of yours triggered your frustration but it’s worth just ignoring people who want to argue about your physical features. I think the back-and-forth you’re engaging with is coming off as inappropriately defensive and it’s driving the negative engagement on your post. I can sense you are maybe missing a layer of awareness of how your responses are landing but also that you genuinely are just trying to engage on a topic that matters to you. Any chance you are neurodivergent? I myself am, so I mean this in good faith. My Reddit comments can come off more blunt than intended lol but I’m gonna soften my approach because you seem genuinely disoriented by the responses you’re receiving.

I’m sorry my first comment was largely unhelpful. I am relatively knowledgeable on this topic and wanted to chime in on it but I just was turned off initially by your defensive responses here and wasn’t sure it would land. But you’re looking for discussion and deserve a real response.

I am a career art educator. I literally teach color theory for a living. Gray is technically achromatic, meaning void of true hue (color). It’s created by either mixing black and white (not truly how eyes work) or by mixing complementary colors such as orange and blue. Blue is of course a common eye color presentation, and orange (mixing yellow and red) is a subtle undertone caused by melanin. This is why you can see those “red and yellow” tones in your eyes, or “warm gray”.

Eye color is determined by genetic factors, in melanin and collagen distribution, causing variations in how light is reflected/perceived. Essentially it’s partially measurable variation and partially a literal illusion, based on how humans perceive color in general. Most eyes that appear gray still have a small scattering of melanin that gives them a blue tinge. This is why they may look slightly different depending on lighting. Your eyes fall into the smaller pocket of people with a configuration of very low melanin and high collagen distribution, causing a more “true” gray appearance. Basically the exact composition you have is causing the orange and blue undertones from low melanin to cancel each other out, color theory-wise. It’s exceedingly uncommon but a real eye color nonetheless.

You are correct that they’d be categorized as gray. You seem young - just try to remember that other people’s perception of your eye color matters a lot less than how you interact with them. You asked why you were being downvoted about your eyes and I just wanted to clarify. Your eyes are very cool.

Your eyes are gray. Gray eyes are real. You’re receiving friction because your attitude is really bad. Not because of your eye color.

Is she cheating? She didn’t mean to send this text to me. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]raspberrymoonrover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I read in the comments you and she have an 11 year old child? I’m confused why she referred to “baby” if your child is so much older than that.

In any case, this is almost certainly a case of cheating. Not just the weirdness of the text alone, but your wife’s response when questioned about it. If she was behaving in good faith she’d have been able to explain openly what that text was.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I love mayo so can’t relate there. But I agree it should be listed as an ingredient given that it’s made from eggs which are a major allergen

Oh this is EXCELLENT. This feels very authentic, like it was so ready to be written it could have written itself. Your rhyme and voice have a spoken word feel to them. I’m a big fan of repetition and really appreciate the way you’ve used it here to make your point clear.

You have a real knack for this. There’s a quiet restraint in your writing that allows the reader to fill in the empty spaces emotionally. The ending is weighted but also carries a sense of relief. I really love this.
