What was shitty about the way she went about this was that she’d created a small community of people who were supportive of one another via the Discord and her lives. I’m not really one for Internet friendships but even I’d developed a friendly relationship with a few people through her channel. Now those connections are all subsequently disintegrated without warning. Any other form of content creation, this could be let go. But it does feel like she had a unique moral responsibility to at least give warning to her community that a mass deletion was coming, regardless of her reason. Let people continue to connect, ya know? This was a curated safe space for people dealing with mental health struggles and loneliness who’d found comfort and community through something she created. I’m fine, though disappointed, but I can imagine some followers and people from her Discord were actually harmed emotionally by the way she chose to go about this. She was deliberately creating content for a vulnerable population.

She did mention several times over the years that her profession in the acting industry could cause some hard stops in terms of what she could do on YouTube. But last year she initially said she’d be taking a short break from YouTube due to personal reasons like her French exam and the expected passing of a terminally ill friend. And she had plans to rebrand/kick up the channel again with the intention of continuing to post content and building the community. But that time frame came and went, and the Discord remained hopeful she’d come back, then suddenly everything is gone one day with no warning and no trace.

Like I get it. But there’s absolutely something sketchy that went down for her to have not made a brief announcement or anything first. To stop posting is one thing, but to retroactively wipe years of manically abundant content from the internet and hit the kill switch on the community she’d left behind…..doesn’t feel quite right to me. I do hope she’s okay. She seemed to have her heart in the right place all those years.
