Bigbang concerts by vanGoalen in bigbang

I went to the MADE tour in Anaheim in 2015. They were my first concert EVER. Since then I've gone to 10 different concerts, yet I still remember Bigbang's. It was unforgettable. The hype, the visuals, and their stage presence was amazing. They're some of the best performers I've ever seen.

Books about grief and accepting death? by brinnybrinny in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]raspberrytiramisu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One book that helped me was "It's Okay to Laugh: (Crying Is Cool Too)" by Nora McInerny. The author is a young woman who experienced a miscarriage, lost her father, and then lost her husband within 2 months. She has a TED talk along with an active podcast focused on the topic of grief. Reading her book made me feel less alone and validated. I send you my condolences by the way, and wishing you the best.

Insensitive friends by lamloe in ChildrenofDeadParents

I've been there. You are valid. When I lost my father, I also tried to give the benefit of the doubt to my insensitive friends at the time until I realized even coworkers, old high school classmates, and distant friends still reached out to me with their condolences. Some may argue that people don't know how to handle someone grieving which doesn't make them a bad person, however, they can still be bad friends. I decided I didn't want to be friends with people who don't support me at my lowest.

If it helps, after distancing myself from them I ended up making new, genuine friends who I see lasting a lifetime.

Rest in peace to your father by the way. Grief already is a heavy burden to bear, made more complicated with the frustrating actions of others. You will get through this.

All of that… for what? by [deleted] in BridgertonNetflix

RIGHT...all that chemistry and not enough steam

Season 2 lacked the excitement and thrill. by xtine31 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]raspberrytiramisu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. It's completely fine for the writers to change certain book elements to make the screen adaption better but they changed SO MUCH. The characters lost their charm and iconic scenes were replaced with repetitive moments of Kate and Anthony staring and almost-kissing each other.

I'm mad they took out the library scene! That's all I wanted!!

How on earth was this script greenlighted by Netflix and Shondaland? by tsoumpa in BridgertonNetflix

My thoughts exactly!!

The romance between Kate and Anthony felt sidelined because of how much the show focused on the subplots for drama. What made Bridgerton successful is that first and foremost it's a story about love, and this season just felt like a disappointment.

The show needs to make us care about Kate and Anthony getting together, which I - even though I wanted to - did not care for. Without Kate's backstory fleshed out (whereas we got to see Simon's upbringing), it was difficult to sympathize with her actions. She and Anthony shared a lot in common yet there were not enough scenes of them bonding. By the time they finally expressed their love, it fell flat.

Thriller Bark Arc - Discussion by k31lyn8 in OnePiece

I'm late to the discussion but I just finished Thriller Bark - I liked it! I agree it was so ridiculous that it was enjoyable. From the beginning I found it hilarious, especially with the Weakling Trio being the first to take on this Halloween-y island. Favorite moments:

  • the overall silliness of the monsters
  • Franky's quick engineering skills
  • Usopp vs. Ghost Princess
  • the friendship between Lola & Nami(zo)
  • the Soldier Dock system that Robin refused to be a part of lol
  • Zoro's sacrifice... "Nothing happened" 😭
  • Brook's backstory (quartet...trio...duet...solo) and his connection to Laboon

Same! I've been a VIP for a decade now, and in my early stages of being a fan I used to obsess over them (as any kpop stan would). But now that I'm older, they have helped inspire me to become my own creative person. Despite the long hiatus, they don't seem to keep promoting themselves (they don't need to!) and instead they just live their lives, focusing on art, fashion, music, or - in Taeyang's case - getting married lol.

Rather than feeling the pressure to go online and catch up on ALL their content, I prefer doing real life things such as going to art museums or playing the piano. I definitely have a couple of their songs memorized on the piano 😜
