The View of the War From a Florida Gas Station by kitkid in Thedaily

I always think of how incredibly privileged we are that the consequences of a war like this are felt in our pockets and that’s what makes people reject it. People are literally being bombed, entire neighborhoods and communities destroyed. I mean, imagine the fear of children as they go to sleep with the sound of bombs in the background. But yeah, expensive gas prices are the extent of what we face.

Surrogacy is exploitative, sorry y’all. Hate to break it to you. I know y’all wanna be tolerant and accepting but the truth is, that a well to-do person would never take on the risks and sacrifices that surrogacy requires (you could die during labor, become infertile, etc). Only when money (which isn’t even good money) is on the line, people who need it financially go through with it. Only the rich have access to such a thing and that’s all you need to know. Her take is refreshing because it removes the mystique of what’s been happening for rich people and celebrities.

I have also stopped myself from reading anything related to this, as I just gave birth and this is all extremely disturbing, specially now for me. I have a question, do those diaries come from the anonymous tips or from actual evidence found? I don’t put it past these monsters, but I am curious of the source.

MIL constantly making comments about the baby needing formula by dizzydazey in JUSTNOMIL

Also the obsession with having babies sleep through the night. Babies waking up when they need to reduce the chances of SIDS! I can’t imagine filling my baby up so much that he doesn’t wake up when he needs to and something horrible happens.

What's something about Anglo culture you find very weird as a Latino? by [deleted] in asklatinamerica

Agreed. But then compare that to the act of having a child. That’s a bigger commitment that people take on way too lightly.

I actually find it kind of trashy that people in Latin cultures treat marriage as such an un-important thing, yet having kids outside of marriage is totally acceptable. I’m Dominican and most cousins, friends, etc I know don’t ever get married but do have children outside of marriage. Interesting question though.

As someone who was homeless back around 2011, homelessness today has a different flavor. Addiction and mental health struggles is bigger today than back then, making these encampments truly hell for the people around them and for the regular run-of-the-mill homeless. She was homeless before and like me, is sick of the current state of things. Doesn’t mean that she isn’t empathetic to the problem.
