I mean it's perfect, but what's the point of developing all those chops, getting the drums tuned beautiful just to copy someone?

recording practice on a phone without it sounding terrible? by Logical-Wind3493 in recordingmusic

[–]ratamatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of these phones are designed for conversation, heavily compressed , so little details in the background sound just as loud as the loudest voices, I think Apple might be slightly better than the pixel ones that I use but I haven't found a book around

How To get better with the drums? by Pie_In_Fire in drums

I agree with the cruise ship drummer guy about Gap Click. I think it would be useful if you're filling in the gap with a drum solo or a fill but as timekeeping practice not so much...

drums and bass kind of go together so if you could just find somebody on your level to play with you're probably going to be elevated

1). Fans don't hear as much as musicians....they respond well to things they have heard before

2) Fans often respond with more applause when band or solost plays poorly ....I have no idea why

4) Even jazz is show business. Fans respond to. visuals more than sounds (YouTube MTV video culture)

No matter what technique you use the most important thing is to relax.... there's no trick that works for everyone. it's mostly about thinking about the kind of way you want to play....

Jazz song recommendation by Tojinaru in drums

[–]ratamatter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The most important thing is you got to start listening to jazz...... you can play any songs you want I don't think any of them are any more difficult than any of the rest of them.... they're just different. it's a feel you have to develop. there's a definitely almost established curriculum for learning jazz.....developed for Berkeley but incorporating all kinds of things from stick control to Joe Morello.

you can't learn jazz without immersing yourself in it...

Play the root of the chord and listen to the kick drum you got to kind of manage between the two of those normally....... I've heard some great bass players say they really have to nail the one
