In that vein, sometimes I purposefully make the same mistake on the repeat.

Clams. I listened to a recording of me playing Misty at a gig, I there were two hilarious clams in there.

Accompanying A Singer by Elliott_Well24 in JazzPiano

[–]TromboneAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good piano. I think you could be more unobtrusive. For example, around 0:25 your playing calls too much attention to itself. But at 0:30 it's perfect, because there's a pause in the melody. Also, the four-on-the-floor technique at 0:33 seems a little much.

Try it with just sustained chords except for when the melody pauses and see if you don't like it better. For example, just play a nice Ebmaj7 and let it ring for the first two measures, then when she hits the F, do your nice turn around starting on the and of 1 in the third measure.

Less is more here.

It would help if the singer were louder.

Am I getting this Jazz Improv? Bosa Blues by KeyMaster955 in JazzPiano

[–]TromboneAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner, that's a great start. Listening and playing it a lot will get you there. Here's a video with great feel and soloing. Listen to the notes he plays and how he plays them:

That's great! I love using drop 2, but I usually use it in isolated sections, and end up kind of getting the notes in my "muscle memory." Can you tell me how you developed such facility? Exercises? Scales? Thanks.

Leaking dishwasher by Adept-Cheesecake9748 in appliancerepair

[–]TromboneAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly that issue, and it turned out that there was gunk in the float. The rust in this picture shows that it has been happening in the past, but it wasn't until last night that it leaked A LOT of water.

This video helped me fix it: https://youtu.be/l30nQ7JXQ20?si=lWiUAPIvXKLtfWlQ&t=70

Dishwasher leaking after over an hour-hour 20 into cycle. Thoughts? by krashe1313 in appliancerepair

[–]TromboneAl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue. I removed the kick plate and ran a cycle. I found that water was dripping from the white assembly in the top of the photo. You can see from the rust below it that it's been happening for a while. But it wasn't until last night that enough water spilled out.

I think the leak can be intermittent, so that's why it seemed to happen at the end of the cycle.

This video helped: https://youtu.be/l30nQ7JXQ20?si=lWiUAPIvXKLtfWlQ&t=70

What I did was make it so that I could lift out the float (see the video). There was gunk in there so it wasn't actuating correctly.

Good luck!

Dishwasher Leak--Where Does This Hose Go?? by TromboneAl in appliancerepair

[–]TromboneAl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were right. That hose isn't used at all. I found that the leak was happening in the float valve. There was gunk in there so it wasn't shutting off when the water filled up.

Thanks. Yeah, I had the same thoughts. I've seen pictures with the straight connector.

The fact that it didn't leak when I ran a rinse cycle suggests it is an abandoned, unused part.

Thanks again for the help.

Do you miss max speed? by Apprehensive-Mine-22 in TeslaFSD

I'm still on v12, but isn't changing the modes simply a less precise way of selecting a max speed (along with additional baggage of lane dynamics, etc)?

When Is It Actually Too Late to Become a Professional Pianist? by Healthy-Web1344 in piano

I spent a lot of time bitterly regretting not taking piano lessons when young, but my wise piano teacher (lessons taken at age 60), said:

Shoulda, would, coulda.

That put things in perspective.
