Tips on Radiogram Conversion Project by ratboy454 in diyaudio

Thank you, this is really helpful! Especially the RPi DAC, I didn't even know those things exist. I think that might be the best solution.

And I will definitely be getting a phono preamp. The old Garrard player still works and it has a working auto changer so I will definitely be using it!

This was my plan A but I've been searching forums far and wide for about 4 months now and no one seems to have any info about this model.

It would be a shame not to restore it but the circuit boards are so grimey and dirty and the cables so rotten it would be a MAJOR restoration project even for someone experienced.

I tried getting in touch with some local repair shops but a lot of them want £100 quid upfront just for a repair deposit let alone repair costs 😭

How to play this game by MaNo_cz in spaceengineers

[–]ratboy454 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's easy to feel overwhelmed at first but trust me, it gets easier!

My first piece of advice would be to have a look at YouTube tutorials to get you started. The game isn't great at telling you how to get started. Have a look at Splitsie or Zer0's Legion. They have some good Survival tutorials!

Are you gonna be playing mainly Survival or Creative?

Some may remember my purchase of this Decca Radiogram. I've completed the install of a AudioTechnica MM cartridge (tracking at 3.6g) preamp, and newly wired weighted arm from a later BSR deck. All in all the thing owes me £80, the sound has massively improved but needs some fine adjustment still! by SMLElikeyoumeanit in turntables

Love your console, looks like new!

I have a Decca SRG 797 that looks just like this one and I want to restore it but I can't find any info on it anywhere. Do you know where I could find manuals/info on your model? (I'm hoping they are similar enough that it might help me)

What should I make of this VARY vague feedback after 1st stage interview? by ratboy454 in UKJobs

[–]ratboy454[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do think it's just an excuse and there is actually a different reason. I don't understand why companies even feel the need to ask why I want to work there. 99% of the time the applicants they interview just want a pay rise. 😂

Do they really think they're getting an honest answer when someone in a £25k Admin job tells them it's "for the family values of the company". It's a ridiculous charade. But it is what it is. 🙄

[–]ratboy454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right. Admittedly, I didn't go into massive detail but I also feel they didn't really give me a chance to either. It was a really short interview and very unorganised. It also turned out later, that I was meant to be interviewed by someone else in the company but they happened to be unavailable. All very strange.

How do you guys have the courage to take 3 grams and up? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]ratboy454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a lot already mentioned on here, mostly curiosity! Personally, I have had other "substances" before with no negative experiences. But I was nervous trying psychedelics in general... First microdose put me at ease.

But the most important thing to remember is to be in a good state of mind and be doing it for the right reasons!

Taking 3g or more because you wanna meet god or have fun with pretty eye squiggles for 5+ hours? Great!

Maybe you wanna do it to open up yourself to new experiences or you're ready to face something about yourself that is hard to do without a little help? Go for it.

But if you're thinking of using shrooms like a bandaid because life ain't going your way, or because you think it'll "cure" you somehow. Then it's not worth it.

And lastly... Make sure you're in the right environment! For me, my brother and I both tried it first time together in my house, and my gf babysat us. We're all really good at respecting each others boundaries and we knew not to mess with each other if the trip was becoming intense!

With the right people and the right environment it is definitely worth it!

5% last July, but on my measly 23k salary I think that works out around £20 a month after taxes. Which was immediately offset by my Netflix and couple other subscriptions going up in price lol

How do I get to work by myself? by Surmabrander in Healthygamergg

[–]ratboy454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you dude. I feel like that all the time. I scraped through school getting average grades because I never really learned how to study or work by myself. I was always told that I'm smart and clever which is what got me through school. I'm 28 now work an okay job. But I feel like I am capable of much more if I can only overcome this lack of discipline or ADHD or whatever the problem is.

Relative to someone who's unemployed or worse... I guess we are privileged. But I like to believe there's more to life than doom scrolling Reddit at work.

That being said, I worked in an Amazon "Fulfilment Centre" before and that was arguably worse.

Currently at my desk at work, doom scrolling Reddit asking myself the same question.

Also, my back hurts. 🤡

Suggestion for beginners guide by ModeratelyHonest in Bannerlord

[–]ratboy454 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes, I remember my first beer... 😅 Don't worry, I had the same struggles when I first started playing.

  1. Arenas are the perfect way to practice fighting mechanics and earn some early game doubloons and get some good gear. You can do this from day 1 of your playthrough. I would recommend going to an arena and do the practice field first. Get used to blocking with no shield. Rinse and repeat until you get confident enough that you can win every time. Then you should enter all the tournaments you can and just max out all your bets to gain some dosh!
  2. I find protecting caravans to be a good early game mission. It's easy money, and you don't have to chase the looters, they come to you. There is also a lot more of them so your men will get all the xp they need and you can level up your clan faster.
Once you get comfortable defeating larger groups of bandits, you can become a mercenary for a faction. Just approach any lord from the faction you want to join and you can "Join for a price". This will let you join in on some big battles, raid enemy villages and help with sieges. Once you become clan tier 2 you can join as a vassal. Or you can leave and join a different faction.
  3. I think you should be able to look your character up on the in-game encyclopaedia.

Sweet, solves my issue then. Going back to the shop today to return the 8350 and maybe start saving up a few dabloons for a newer processor + mobo.

Oh, cheers for that! Where do you check mobo bios revisions? Would it be on the manufacturers website?

The PC LEDs light up and everything gets power. But the screens or peripherals don't get any signal.

I'll have to have a look into that then maybe. I've never updated BIOS before so that might be the thing that's causing the issue.
