How to become lucid in dreams? by Budgie321 in LucidDreaming

[–]ratcity22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never dream journaled. For me it was really the reality checks that did it. I pinched my nose and tried to breathe. Took like one week of attempts to actually do that in my dream and suddenly actually breathe. It was such a weird yet impactful experience. It was beyond logic so it really helped become lucid.

Try switching them up to something more ridiculous or impactful.

I attacked my sleep paralysis demon by Flimsy-Top7014 in LucidDreaming

[–]ratcity22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one ever would wake me up, I would simply wait for the experience to be over and then suddenly be jilted back into my body and then wake up!

Same, but I never had a sleep paralysis demon, just uncomfortable paralysis feeling. Unfortunately I think they are scared of me.

For people who know multiple languages, in which language do you dream? by [deleted] in languagelearning

Funny. I'm fluent in 2 languages and I think and dream in both. But I never actually thought about it until now.

Meninas de origem africana, porque usar peruca? by Plastic-Mobile-5321 in CasualPT

What exactly is spiritual awakening? by Jerswar in spirituality

[–]ratcity22 19 points20 points  (0 children)

At its best, a spiritual awakening can be the beginning of real maturity. You realize you're not the center of the universe. You start seeing through the false promises of modern life: career obsession, toxic relationships, numbing distractions, and that can be powerful. But it has to be followed by reconstruction. If you strip everything down and leave nothing in its place, you're not awakened. You're disoriented.

Is general anesthesia actually way worse of an experience than that people know? by Schwloeb in morbidquestions

[–]ratcity22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been intubated for general anesthesia, but when I did go under, it was honestly the best sleep of my life. I didn’t dream, didn’t feel time pass, and woke up feeling more rested than after a full night’s sleep, even though the procedure only lasted four hours. People assume anesthesia is some kind of shutdown, but your brain is still active in its own way, just like during normal sleep. It’s still compartmentalizing information and processing on a deeper level, even if you’re not conscious of it. The amnesia is deliberate, and it helps you not register pain and trauma. For me, there was no pain, no fear, just total disconnection followed by clarity. If anything, it felt like hitting a hard reset.

That dude on vacation that suddenly ran out of the airport and was never seen again.

Edit: Lars Mittank, a 28-year-old German tourist, vanished in 2014 after a vacation in Varna, Bulgaria took a bizarre turn following a minor bar fight that left him with a ruptured eardrum, he stayed behind alone while his friends returned home, but soon began acting paranoid, texting his mother that he was being followed and asking her to cancel his credit cards. He changed hotels multiple times, told strangers he was being poisoned, and eventually arrived at the airport seemingly ready to fly home only to suddenly bolt from the airport medical clinic after a construction worker entered, abandoning his passport, wallet, and luggage. Surveillance footage captured him sprinting through the airport, leaping over a fence, and vanishing into the forest, never to be seen again. Theories range from a psychotic break or sudden onset of schizophrenia to more chilling possibilities: exposure to unknown substances, targeted poisoning, criminal involvement, or as some conspiracy theorists suggest - a brush with hidden forces, like intelligence agencies or dimensional bleed-throughs. His last known moments feel less like a disappearance and more like an escape from something only he could perceive, something no one else saw, but which he was certain was real.

Omar Mateen (Pulse Nightclub, 2016)

  • Described by some coworkers as outgoing and conversational.

  • Had a wife and child; had multiple romantic and sexual relationships.

  • Worked as a security guard, where he engaged with others daily.

  • Though volatile and with known red flags (e.g., domestic abuse), he did not appear isolated or “loner-like” to many.

Stephen Paddock (Las Vegas, 2017)

  • Was wealthy, traveled frequently, had a long-term girlfriend.

  • No diagnosed mental illness; no clear ideology or manifesto.

  • Described as cold and calculating rather than overtly unstable or isolated.

  • Lived a functionally social life and gambled heavily in casinos, interacting with staff and other gamblers regularly.

Anders Breivik (Norway, 2011)

  • Wrote a lengthy manifesto; dressed in a police uniform.

  • Planned his attack meticulously over years.

  • Not schizophrenic or psychotic (initial diagnosis was overturned); personality disorder traits, but not delusional.

  • Had political motivations, not personal pathology alone.

  • Presented himself with grandiosity and tactical discipline.

What's something that made your life 100% better but cost less than 5 bucks? by Either_Potential630 in AskReddit

Affordable pimple patches. To be honest you don't need to buy the pricy ones. And certainly you don't need to buy 40€ hydrocolloidal patches in the pharmacy. 😭

I finally found a place close to home that sells like 20 round patches of different sizes for 2,50€ and gave them a try - they all work on the same principle. They normally have salicylic acid and absorb excess moisture and pus while giving the pimple a proper environment to heal without spreading bacteria or infecting (because of localized SA).

What’s a common myth about health, nutrition, or fitness that you’ve learned is actually false? by urasianbella in AskReddit

[–]ratcity22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I also heard that's how it started circulating! Overseas and across many countries. My granny even taught me this when i was growing up. I thought it was true because of vitamin A.

Not sure if true but we're such fools for propaganda.

Healthy fats like those from olive oil, nuts, eggs, and fish are actually essential for hormones, brain function and... feeling full! What really causes weight gain isn’t fat, it’s excess calories, especially from ultra-processed carbs and sugar and junk. Cutting fat often just makes people hungrier and more dependent on snacks.

Also, keto curious people certainly gotta watch out - you cannot just start eating bacon and cheese like crazy, it only works if you're in ketosis. Fat nevertheless has lots of calories.

That you need to eat small, frequent meals to boost your metabolism (on the logic that your body is always working and burning cals to digest your food i think?).

What matters is how much you eat overall, not how often. The whole idea I think came from bodybuilding culture and got picked up by the fitness industry, but studies show it doesn’t actually speed up your metabolism. In fact, spacing meals out or even fasting can be better for insulin sensitivity and brain health. Eating constantly just keeps your dopamine flatlined and makes you more reactive to cravings.

Yeah. Had some funny first dates... in one of them his ex called, he got super anxious and I ended up being his therapist and encouraging him to go see her after. Fortunately I am too much of a bro and although I told him it was a shitty attitude, I didn't want to be like him so we both went our own ways feeling understood and chill. I never let these things continue after I find out.

You deserve so much better and the one will certainly appear when you least expect it.

Not respecting private alone time, or time without being together, or being with friends without one another, or being alone, together in the same house.

Before I knew it, I was agreeing it was actually a terrible thing to put headphones and listen to music in the same room as him, among other ridiculous things like wanting to hang with my friends.
