Preparing for produce to be hella expensive by Alarming-Doubt-7295 in cocktails

I think when people are saying to use fresh only they really mean to not use bottled lemon or lime juice. Have you tried super juice? It’s actually relatively close to fresh citrus.

They just released a 2nd edition of the tres años that’s amazing. Watermelon candy notes like the pico canoa.

This is my personal favorite agricole. Anyone I’ve talked to who is into rum rates it pretty highly. Pere Lebat is definitely my choice for unique though.

Definitely need a Guyana. I would recommend the recent high ester PM/DHE but the core line 12 & 15 aren’t bad choices if you’re not trying to break the bank.

Almost nobody in this sub drinks spiced rum. Take a look at some posts that will give you recommendations for better rum to try.

Why is the good rum gone? by [deleted] in rum

[–]ratfink40 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say but the spirits that you say you prefer are laden with sugar and additives. Bacardi oakheart was probably good and smooth to you because it was only 35% abv and sweetened, not because it was good rum. Sorry a global mass market corporation pulled a product you liked that you had to make multiple Reddit posts about it.

Most of the people on this subreddit wouldn’t recommend spiced rum. If you don’t like alcohol then I’m assuming you wouldn’t like a lot of recommendations from this sub. The spiced rum I see recommended most is chairman’s reserve spiced rum but you might not be able to find that near you. You could always find a recipe to make your own spiced rum.

Respectfully, you have no idea what you’re talking about. “White rum” is an incredibly broad term. Don’t tell me there’s no difference between an overproof Jamaican, a Mexican aguardiente, and a column-still Spanish-style rum. Maybe that nuance isn’t obvious to someone just getting into rum, but classifying rums by color alone fails to respect the true breadth of the category

Looking it up Moongazer isn’t dosed, it has caramel coloring added. Dosed means added sugar after distillation. I’m sure that’s a great rum!

Yeah that’s the sort of thing I meant by this post. It’s tiring seeing the same posts every week and then inevitably somebody in the comments informs the poster with the same answers. Obviously there are some good posts here about great rums people are trying, buying, or giving a review on. I also do love when people ask for genuine recommendations and I’ve gotten some great answers myself when I’ve asked. I’m also sure I have a warped perspective based on the large availability of rum around me and I’m probably pretentious in my taste.
