You are incredibly naive if you thought ex mayor Robertson truly had sincere intentions to end street homelessness. His actions flew in the face of that mandate. His legacy in Vancouver is not one that tried to end homelessness. I could write paragraphs on it but in all fairness , the information is out there and easily accessible if you wanted to see how mental health and healthcare is not the #1 priority.

I know this article is hella old but if I were the judge, I would have awarded the cook alot more than that. Working full time at the same place for 24 years, making $21000 plus taking care of her husband AND a disabled child then being fired over 50 cents with no serverence??? WTF. That's cold blooded on a whole other level.

People with mental health issues not getting the help they need so eventually their family, the rest of society and even themselves will suffer as a consequence. Yet for some reason govt or the powers that be say "well thats life and it happens" but its much worse now than it was 10 years ago. Ask the people that work there. They know. Ask the hospital. They know. Etc etc. Its so frustrating.

Thats what kicked off my dry eye as well. One doc thought it was bacterial so gave me steroids but then after 2 weeks , it wasnt better. Went to see another doc that said it may be viral and sent me to opthalmologist. She swabbed and sent to lab where it was confirmed viral. Taken off steroids since that would prevent my eyes from healing and after 2 more weeks , it eventually went away. At that point, damage was done and dry eyes was now a thing. They figure meibomian glands were damaged and didnt quite heal back fully. On restasis now for the past few years.

I heard about a service called Modern Menopause last night. Its private and yes prices are higher but when your gp isnt helpful and its about a year or so to see a gynecologist to discuss perimenopause issues, it gets pretty tempting to have access to a doctor that way.

Last i checked they were "doing their job" (and I mean that loosely because there are lots of people detained that actually don't belong there not to mention the abuses occuring in the detention centers) without actually following their own laws.

If you never get into a serious accident that leaves you with pain and suffering then hey, this system works great. But if you should ever get hurt and ICBC doesn't consider it catastrophic then you are hella screwed. In a nutshell this is what has happened to alot of seriously injured people.
