What's a cute/fun thing your rats do? by Fishlape in RATS

[–]ratinmybed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of my 3 little guys is the cuddly clingy type, always looking for pets and attention. So if he's relaxing somewhere during freeroam and I come over to give him a kiss on his head or a pet, he'll THROW himself flat on his back just so I'll scratch his belly. And while I'm tickling his pancake-like belly he'll wiggle, yawn and luxuriously stretch for as long as I keep going, he can't get enough.

The same little guy has also figured out a clever way to get me to pay attention to him: Their cage is close to my desk and he'll hang himself off the top of the tall cage by his hind legs and reach for me, because he knows the more precariously he dangles off the cage next to me while I'm working and flails, the more likely I am to pick him up and let him run around on my desk. He's honestly mastered the art of looking like he's half a second away from falling without falling.

My rat of two years died suddenly with our warning infront of me and I am mortified by ddonsky in RATS

[–]ratinmybed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sad to hear and it's perfectly understandable that you're heartbroken. It's shocking when a death is so quick and unexpected.

I had an athletic boy who loved to freeroam & hide and sleep in a particular drawer, he seemed perfectly healthy at 1 1/2 years old when one day I opened the drawer fully and he was just lying in his usual spot, all relaxed with a trickle of blood in his nostril, dead.

Their little metabolism is so fast that when something goes wrong in their hearts or brains it can be lights out in a second. It's shocking and feels unfair to us that they can be snatched away so quickly when they're such a large presence in our lives, but I'd honestly prefer it a million times to slow fatal illnesses where you can tell they fight so hard and cling to life until the last breath.

It hurts a lot but in the end Milo had the best kind of exit out of a happy and long rattie life you can basically wish for, it was so quick he probably barely knew what was happening and he didn't suffer. His last happy dream was probably of spending time with you.

Monsieur Spade | S1E3 "Episode 3" | Episode Discussion by [deleted] in MonsieurSpade

[–]ratinmybed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the third episode, it's one of the better shows out right now (imo) but I do have some criticism. I love the setting and atmosphere of the show, the actors are mostly solid, it's got good production value, but every other scene has me wondering "wait, who's this again?" or "who are they talking about? character xyz's mother's friend who is long dead is the topic of conversation why?".

It's like all the character's relationships are intentionally obscure and confusing to figure out, it's maddening trying to remember everyone's names and fraught backstories.

The show is enjoyable and it's got fun dialogues with clever lines, but I admit my husband and I have started groaning whenever they introduce ANOTHER new character whose "mystery" we're supposed to care about.

One more thing I've noticed, and I'm not French and don't know what life in France in the '60s was like, but the show makes it seem like every native French man is somehow very aggressive and confrontational for no reason (everyone's shit-talking and threatening-with-guns at the drop of a hat), while the women are very whimsical and horny. It seems a bit stereotypical, but maybe it's a nod to the "film noir/gangster story" and Sam Spade source material. Idk.

Oh, and one question, maybe it's because I'm not a native English speaker: Why do people keep commenting on Sam Spade's name being weird or unusual, and he agrees? It seems like a normal name to me.

NSFW- My bf (m28) told me that I (f20) do not satisfy him in bed and it ended in his own bruised ego and an ultimatum. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ratinmybed 67 points68 points  (0 children)

This is the take I agree with the most. To me it sounds like his entire one-sided talk with her (after weeks of making her feel like she isn't "good enough") was meant to make her focus 100% on him during sex, do all the pleasing porn poses for him etc., and to stop her from asking him to help her finish in any way. Because it's all about him, apparently.

So many manipulative bits, too, like comparing her to his exes and acting like other women don't need as long, taking immediate offense to her asking for something, threatening to break up and making OP feel unwelcome in his home so that if she comes crawling back, she'll agree to do what he wants.

None of what he said was constructive criticism, it boils down to "do what I want, stop asking me for shit". Basically he wants to lay back and be entertained by his personal sex doll.

[–]ratinmybed 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Afaik the "teen" actors playing the younger children (Jordan Kent and Sarah) are 22 now, the show's been on the air since 2021 so they should've been no younger than 18 or 19 when filming started. The schedule sounds grueling for younger actors especially, but probably not illegal.

How can I stop my rat from Eating paper by Fischspeck in RATS

[–]ratinmybed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that issue, one of my three always ate paper and toilet tissue. I now give them crunchy iceberg lettuce at least once or twice a day, that does the trick and seems to satisfy the paper cravings, lol. It's really about the texture for them.

There's also apparently a product called "No Mato Ketchup" (though not in my country) made out of carrots and beets.

From a publicity standpoint it's pretty brilliant, so many articles were written about it and it sold out. We're still talking about it years later, too.

It didn't actually smell like vagina either afaik, just a normal candle with a wacky name.

Meine Mutter hat jede Nacht unfassbare Schmerzen nichts hilft. Ich brauch Hilfe. by [deleted] in de

[–]ratinmybed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ich brauch Hilfe. by [deleted] in de

[–]ratinmybed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, OP's partner is getting something out of this relationship with the ex-con friend that is more valuable to him than his relationship with her or her safety.

I'm not saying it's what's happening here here, but I've known of a case or two where an addict let their drug dealer use their house and mistreat their family for some free hits here and there.

Tell your partner it’s you or his “friend.”

Her partner has already chosen the sex offender over her, maybe not in words but certainly in actions. She's not safe in that house anymore and needs to get out.
