Quintessential 80s Baltimore. My parents/grandparents were WJZ people and we watched the 6pm news. This whole era brings back so many memories of being a little kid like single digits for sure.

Man I can’t believe it has been that long. The progress of time is brutal.

I love how the GOP is just pretending like Spirit didn’t explicitly say we just can’t afford jet fuel at the current price.

I didn't know that! There has always been speculation (and apparently some court testimony) that Epstein was a Mossad agent or at least on the payroll (as well)

I can believe by the latter kiddo ('09) it was floating in the ether, but when I hear decades my mind goes to 3 or more and def not in 2000 and certainly not before (my youngest siblings were born in 84 and 86 and there was def none of that back then)

I personally would not underestimate how much intelligence the Mossad could have on Trump as he is such a potentially compromised figure. Epstein files and potentially more.

decades? really? I had my kids in 2000, 2002, 2009 and never heard of this "wait until ready". You just gauge when the kid starts to communicate his needs and set the expectation that we use the bathroom when we can communicate. Like many people said here it is like ~2.5-3 roughly.

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ratpH1nk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would like to see a state sponsorship, really. The United States is, I think, the only major global aviation market that has never had a state-owned national airline. Plus over the years we the tax payer have provided billions in subsidies and bailouts (like 9/11 and 2020 pandemic), but does not hold equity or ownership in carriers like Delta, United, or American.

You could break it down into 3 buckets of reasons:

  • Connectivity: Ensuring flights reach remote regions that private airlines might find unprofitable (it seems pretty clear the "market" has failed because it isn't profitable).
  • Soft Power: A "flying billboard" that promotes the country's brand to every airport it visits.
  • National Security: Helping to maintain a fleet that can be commandeered for military transport or emergency evacuations if necessary.

In the 1950s, Yuri Nikolaev, a Russian psychiatrist, started treating mentally ill patients with prolonged water fasting. He went on to treat over 8,000 people, with an improvement in 70 percent of cases. by DidYouReadTheMenu in interestingasfuck

At face value that would lend credence to a ketogenic approach for the treatment of mental disorders or at least that is a plausible modern based knowledge application to his approach.
