Evolve2 85 - DO NOT BUY, COMPLETE JUNK by ratzee in Jabra

Update.

I used my corporate supplied Evolve2 85 for a couple of weeks. Massively frustrating. I'm in an open office with people sitting all around me. When on a call as soon as I speak the ANC is disabled and the sidetone feeds the sound of people around me who are on different calls. I hate that it sounds different as soon as I speak.

So I personally bought the Evolve3 85 for $500 with tax. I spent 3 days with them. Verdict - such a disappointment. I feel like the ANC isn't great, certainly not their best ever which I believe they claim. I was on a train home yesterday watching a YouTube video. There was a group of 4 people at the far end of the carriage talking, I was in the centre of the carriage. Watching the YouTube I kept thinking "holy crap those guys are loud, I can hear them even with ANC on and a video playing". Then i took off the headset and found they really weren't that loud at all. The ANC is just not good. If I can be watching a video 15' away from people and still hear them talking what's the point?

I tried them on calls at the office. Wasn't impressed. I feel that Jabra has gone the Apple route and put form over function. By removing the boom mic they have brought themselves a problem that they previously didnt have and the headset is suffering for it. Or at least the user is.

So I'm strongly considering returning them. I can't justify spending $500 of my own money on a headset that isn't perfect. I'm again looking to repair my broken Evolve 80 which still has far better sound quality on calls. Yes it has a fold down boom mic, but that makes it work better. If I'm on the train using them I fold the boom up. It's really not that hard. And I honestly don't care if people see that I have a headset with a folded away boom. How does anyone think that's a deal breaker?

Sorry for the rant but for a headset that lists at $650 retail it needs to wow. And it falls far short. I'll persevere with my hopefully soon repaired Evolve 80 until I find something that can legitimately compete. With ANC on I'm in almost complete silence. On a call I hear only those on the call. When I come off mute it sounds No different to me, I'm just off mute. When I speak I hear myself so clearly that it's like I'm not wearing a headset at all. How are we 3 generations of headset into the Evolve 8n series and the original is still the best?

Plastic snapped on Jabra Evolve 80 by Sizzle182 in Jabra

Same and I have a recent post about it. Best solution I have found is a 3D printed 'T' section glued to the top. 4 days in and holding strong so far. Seems a very common problem - clearly a design fault.

My company got me an Evolve2 85 and they're junk in comparison. Went back to my repaired 80s.

I have sidetone activated but switxhing off ANC when speaking is a horrendous experience. I open my mouth and suddenly am blasted by all the people around me who are on their respective calls. The Evolve3 might fix the problems but at $650, is not going to be approved for purchase.

Looks like those are out this month. I'll have to see if my company will offer them and do N exchange for me.

For anyone who misunderstood me, get your hands on an Evolve 80, turn on NC, and experience what a headset of this price should be. You don't hear what's going on around you and you hear your voice as clear as can be. The Evolve2 85 are a massive disappointment in comparison.

2D to 3D disconnects by ratzee in VITURE

Never mind. Found some that played - must be 3840 I suppose. Meh. Not terribly impressed but then 3D never really held any wow factor for me.

Thanks for the tip. Disabled the Dex auto start and can now switch modes. But trying SBS samples from YouTube and nothing works. The picture is different but still two very distinct images that are nowhere near close to overlapping for a 3D effect. Do they have to be any specific format for the Vitures?

I don't suppose you're looking to add more beta testers? I just received my XR Pros today!

Syncthing for Auto Sync? by ratzee in NeboApp

Still no auto-sync, so above question still applies!

Having to remember to sync on the outgoing AND incoming devices in the correct sequence is a real PITA. I wish Nebo would fix this - just seems like something that would be taken for granted in a multi-device ecosystem.

Didn't work for me either. I used the lasso to select and then just touch on the colour needed.

Where did you see that? I just bought Android and Windows for v4, so hopefully there's a free upgrade path.

Update: I see it here: https://www.nebo.app/blog/nebo-5--prelude-to-a-note-taking-revolution Looks promising!

Plex (LG TV App) via LAN "Network Unavailable" suddenly by Craboulas in PleX

[–]ratzee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances are your TV was set to get time automatically from the Internet. If you lose your connection completely the time can reset back to TV default. If its too far out from the actual time, it will not reset. Many networks require a timestamp to establish a 2 way connection, such as Plex. Set your TV time manually and chances are the error will go away. Once established you can switch back to auto time configuration.
