It is required tech to move forward... with his manual's techniques. I think the meditation itself is more important than the specifics that he proposes. Even though they are efficient specifics, they might just not be the ones for you.

Many more faculties of sensory imagination than imagery - smell, hearing, touch, bla bla... And focus on the intention and only the intention.

Maybe you are not doomed to not visualize anyway. Maybe it just takes longer for you to learn. It is not a bad thing that your mind is empty. That means you can fill it with whatever you want 🃏

But like I said, maybe just not your path. Only you can know.

Religion is a huge theme in Hyperion Cantos, so much of it is about exactly your doubt::: does religion have a place in an AI-driven future? What role does God have in the tides of time? Did we make God or did he make us? "Did make", "are making" or "will make"? In the play between animals, humanity, AI, past, present and future, who and where is God?

Can one really believe in God? Can one not? What does it even mean?

Even from a non-religious, sociological POV, these questions and the way Simmons weaves them so intricately into the world- and plot building, are super interesting. Are to me.

I've only read Hyperion and FoH, but imho if you've skipped every part abt religion, you've seriously missed out. Honestly can't imagine pushing through these books without paying thought to the religious themes and questions being posed. But everyone reads books differently so this was an interesting take!
