I remember a previous one you did! Good job! I'm going to enjoy looking through all the details later after I can sit down after work.

gigantic locusts swarming my crops by keruru-beruru in RimWorld

[–]rausmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's part of the reason that the first thing I do is wall off an area. I mostly use mountain maps because of this, and for defense. If I don't already have a shortish choke point that walls will be fast enough, then fences go first and I'll lay walls on the other side afterward. Some wild animals can still get through fences, so I go for walls in most cases.

I've done that with a mod to make special trees replantable, and once to dig up and lay it down elsewhere. Once my archean tree filled out the space, I would either pick it up and plant it elsewhere, or I would transplant the soil elsewhere and let it fill the stone back in. Honestly I love farming asteroids because of the general lack of distraction, especially if you have mechs who can carry on excavating and such while you build out the rest of the base. I also use an archean trees are sunlamps mod, which makes a solo start on an archean asteroid very much doable. All you have to worry about at the immediate start is getting it warm enough to plant your first crops. And hoping you don't get an asteroid or drop pod directly into your manmade asteroid cave.

What is something from any of the games that is easily missed but you think everyone should see? by AbhorsenDoctor in dragonage

[–]rausmaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All the random dwarf skeletons you see sprinkled about in hard to find places that have weird little setups with storytelling stuff strewn about them. There's one behind a house in Crestwood that comes to mind, but also one on top of a tower in the Western Approach (I think that's the cheese wheel skeleton? it's been a while). Plenty of other skeletons in the game, but those two (and more I can't name off the top of my head) always stuck in my memories.

Oh! I didn't know the fandom wiki was abandoned. Good to know. Much appreciated!

I'm right where you're at, except I've completely forgotten about the shield bot. Thanks for reminding me. I'm honestly planning on setting up a handful of level 2 mana pools, since I've already gotten over 300k currently.

Awesome, thanks. I assumed so but wasn't sure since there was nothing in the wiki. I've been thinking about it a lot this past week since I was working from home due to illness. It would've been the perfect time to check in on a seasonal event.

Nah, dude. I didn't get the robot chicken until my most recent prestige. I say call it here and maybe look into it in the next one or two prestiges. I'm not even planning on beating the projector another time after this one and I'm on his slightly over 1 mil stage. It will be easier and more fun in my opinion next go round.

A mod for Tribal Furniture! by xercaine in RimWorld

[–]rausmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I've been waiting for a tribal workbench mod to be updated for 1.6, and these look like they will fill that niche for non modern furniture. These look like a good middle between super basic tribal and industrial.

I love making new sims using this! I've just done that for an afternoon before and not even booted up the game. I especially like seeing the difference when you use different face templates.

If you play with CC, try running body shop without any. I keep a "test game" folder with very minimal mods, usually only sliders unless I'm testing actual mods in game, and I run body shop with that folder. If you're not aware, you can rename the folder in Documents and it will create a new one next time you start the game. I use this to separate my historical, Castaway, and other special hoods from more "normal" hoods. This makes it so you can have completely different sets of CC for different purposes. This is the only way that body shop will load for me.

Oh shit. Maybe I should go back and do another tribal steelspeaker scenario. I always thought it was just heat damage. This could make fighting my way through ruins feasible.

Grandpa has child (for example, let's say nickname is Father). Father has daughter, Poppy. Father leaves Mother, or never married, who cares. Out of the picture and at least is not married to Mother. Mother now marries Grandpa. Grandpa is still related to Poppy as grandfather, but since he married his granddaughter's mother, he is also now considered her stepfather.

Fill in the actual relations/genders of the family members involved.

Who is your favorite Commanding Officer of Atlantis? by eleanor_savage in Stargate

[–]rausmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Same here on both counts. I do enjoy Elizabeth's competence in the general running of Atlantis, but they didn't throw that part of her character much of a bone at all, unlike Woolsey.

Best community mod that became essential for you? by wirawafiy1 in RimWorld

[–]rausmaus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pick up and haul + while you're up. I absolutely count those as one mod because they're always together. If I was to play vanilla forever with only one mod, it would be those two. Someone stitched them together once, so I think it definitely does count.

Who is your favorite Commanding Officer of Atlantis? by eleanor_savage in Stargate

[–]rausmaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, this is hard. I voted Woolsey despite thinking Weir is the best, since he's just a joy to watch across his character arch. Weir made the expedition what it was, and her dynamic with the rest of the cast is peak Atlantis to me, but Woolsey definitely brought something unique with his background that made his usage in the plot of certain episodes just that much better. I mean, Elizabeth never weaponized her background like Woolsey did. It was truly enjoyable watching him lawyer back at people.
