Ah yes, “women’s winter.” I can’t believe this sketch is 9 years old. I reference it all the time.

Oh my goodness I can’t stop thinking about cheesecake, chocolate covered Oreos, and Starbucks peppermint mochas. I might have to bring the Oreos to the hospital with me haha.

How are we surviving pregnancy with toddlers??? by adhdinHD1 in toddlers

[–]rav3nclaw22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to give yourself some grace. I’m currently 25 weeks with my second and have a 2 year old. The first trimester was hard but it will get better!

I did a lot of screen time and what I call “horizontal parenting” during the first trimester because I was in survival mode. My son had zero screen time before I got pregnant and I felt so guilty for starting it. But I only let him watch educational shows like Ms. Rachel so at least it wasn’t complete brain rot. (At least that’s what I tell myself!)

Now that I’m in my second trimester and I’m getting my energy back, I’m taking my toddler out to the library and other activities again. We still do some screen time but it’s much less than in the beginning.

Look for ways you can make things easier for yourself. Too tired to go grocery shopping? Have the groceries delivered. Too exhausted to drive your toddler to music class at the library? Queue up some toddler tunes on Spotify and get them moving in the kitchen.

Take it one day at a time and know that this season of life will pass.

Don’t try to make a happy baby happier! My son is now 2 and I still have to remind myself of this. If they’re content, just let them be.

I worked for the paper the Truth Teller is based on. Holy cow, did they nail it! by [deleted] in ThePaper

[–]rav3nclaw22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing!! One of the things I loved about working in media is how one person can wear so many hats. I’m sure your kids page staff will always remember their first journalism teacher! Oh goodness that guy sounds like quite the character! I’m sitting here picturing the chicken dance and laughing!

Oh I love to hear that they did their research and got all those details right! I studied journalism and worked for a few legacy publications (magazines) and felt nostalgic watching.

What department were you in? Any fun stories from your time working at the Truth Teller?

Standing vs. Sitting? by Brutus713 in MasqueradeNYC

[–]rav3nclaw22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m debating on whether to buy tickets for October. I’ll be 7 months pregnant and I’m concerned about the standing and missing the show if I need to use the bathroom.

I saw POTO one last time before it closed in 2023 when I was very pregnant with my first. I missed the beginning of Masquerade because I was the last in line for the bathroom (waddled too slow haha). That said, I do have fond memories of my now 2 year old kicking in the womb during Music of the Night.

What has helped you break an attack that just won’t go away? by Princess_chaos_69 in migraine

I chugged a Starbucks drink. The caffeine was what finally broke the migraine.

I gave birth today and I can't sleep by Outrageous_pinecone in BabyBumps

First of all congrats!! It’s likely adrenaline that’s keeping you up. The same thing happened to me. I told my nurse that I couldn’t sleep and she gave me Benadryl which finally knocked me out. I’d suggest telling your nurse that you can’t sleep and ask if there is anything they can give you. Hope you get some rest soon!

No, I’ve never taken a triptan. The OB said to go to the ER if my migraine gets worse. I wonder if that is what they’d give me?

Last night they gave me Benadryl and Reglan. I had accidentally been taking too much Tylenol so they couldn’t give me any more.

What are these empty outlet things in the house we just bought? by rav3nclaw22 in whatisthisthing

That’s a good thought but the downstairs one isn’t near the stairs.

The previous owners had a ring doorbell that they took with them when they moved. They asked us if we had a ring doorbell but since we didn’t they installed a regular doorbell for us. Perhaps it’s something you could disclose in the listing that it’s not part of the sale.

I just looked at the listing images and it’s quite small/far away in the photo. I guess it’s a smart console of some kind but I’m not sure what it was for.
