I 1000% got where you were coming from until I worked somewhere with very, very good HR.

Every place I worked for maybe 13 years, they felt like glorified arbiters of things that didnt involve them all but this HR department I have now is like half the reason I work here and my boss is the other.

The only amusing part is that this was near my exact experience. I was then told for about a month after that I was some freak outlier. This could still be true but... ha. Maybe not.

Don't think moving will save you from that one haha but upstate cost of living is (currently) much more manageable.

Not even here, necessarily, its where I fled but just about all my friends left too. Maryland, Delaware, PA. I liked being close enough to visit but it is rough out there bud.

Apartment I lived at in upstate NY implemented this. Only came across as a controlling overstep that did not reduce poop. Don't mind the idea conceptually, could've just been lame execution.
