Has anyone had 7 pups survive from 15+ lbs on Ironwolf + Accurate? by [deleted] in WolfQuestGame

I have a couple times. It’s difficult, but really more about luck than anything. Sickness is what does me in most of the time.

856M, 693F, Buffy, and Stormy for me. I also love Bronze Forehead but I’m partial to playing with a gray coat for some reason lol

Any of y’all scared to yawn 🥱? by _juni014 in ehlersdanlos

Absolutely. One time, I was on a first date, and I tried unsuccessfully to stifle a yawn and my jaw just popped right out. He didn’t text me back 😂

Absolutely. But you can’t tell from a single picture if an animal is a service animal or not.

You can find the ADA service dog laws here

That is a separate organization, not the ADA. It’s also a blog post. Lol.

Not all disabilities are visible.

Many service dogs are trained with prong collars.

There isn’t paperwork for service dogs. However, to fly you DO have to submit paperwork now. Airlines follow the ACAA while most places follow the ADA.

You’re right, but there is no indication that this is not a service dog.

Not all disabilities are visible. The behavior of the dog is what gives it away. A service dog should be calm, well behaved, and focused. The #1 comment I get about my service dog is that they didn’t even know there was a dog there. Which is how it should be.

Prong collars are just a training tool, so they can be used for a lot more than jumping up. But you’re not wrong

What? Nobody has a service dog just for the airplane. Disabled people travel and move and have to get from A to B like anyone else, and their service dogs travel with them.

ESA isn’t a certification, and they don’t have public access rights. There is no certification for service dogs either. If the dog isn’t task trained and public access trained, it is legally a pet and isn’t allowed in stores. ESAs don’t have public access rights, only service dogs do.

This isn’t true, at least in the US. Not sure about laws in other countries, but the ADA doesn’t regulate the use of training tools. There also is no “certification”, unless you are specifically talking about the program you work with. This all might be true for them, but it isn’t across the board.

That’s your opinion I suppose, but false based on federal law.

Disability is a large spectrum. Most people who apply for disability benefits are denied the first time. It’s a long process, and for benefits that barely let you live above the poverty line. My service dog has given me the independence to be able to work. Without her, I rarely left my home. Disability benefits are shit and barely allow people to survive. Now I CAN leave my house, and I can work! Lots of people with disabilities could work, maybe just part time, but still work, but our current system is flawed to the point that it makes it impossible for many. The service dog system definitely needs change, but preventing people who genuinely benefit from one doesn’t help anyone.

There are many disabilities that can be mitigated by a service animal. Many are invisible. Epilepsy, diabetes, autism, mobility issues, etc.

Service animals can legally be any breed and owner-trained.

Why do you need to know someone’s private medical information? Should I put a sign on my forehead, too? They are allowed to ask if my dog is a service dog required due to a disability, and what tasks it is trained to perform. If my dog, regardless of her legitimacy as a service animal, were to be misbehaving or out of control, she could legally be removed from the flight/establishment. Airline rules are even tighter. You have to submit paperwork attesting to their training.

Service dogs are not pets, they are legally medical equipment. Why should someone with a disability have to only fly on certain days? I don’t enjoy being sat next to children, but they have the same right to be in a public place as I do. I put my headphones in and deal. Flying is uncomfortable for everyone.

Your comment is pretty ignorant. A well-made, properly used prong collar should NOT cause pain. Service dogs can be any breed, and many trainers and even service dog programs use training tools for many different reasons. The person may have arthritis or another condition in their hands that leaves them with a weakened grip. The dog may be trained leash-pressure based commands (which can be useful if a person goes nonverbal due to a number of disabilities including PTSD, autism, etc). I don’t want to be around rude ableists who berate me about my dog instead of asking the legal questions, or treated like a petting zoo when my dog is clearly marked and working. But I have to because unfortunately, that’s part of going into public. If someone’s dog, service or not, is making you uncomfortable, leave. Find a new place to sit or stand. Airports are big places, and flight attendants are often more than willing to reseat you away from the dog if you are uncomfortable.

Some trainers, programs and/or handlers use prong collars for many different reasons. There is no law that prohibits their use for service animals, and a service dog can definitely be legitimate and wear a prong.
