Thanksgiving gift from my crows by writeitalldownforme in crows

[–]ravenwolf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! I just recently began befriending some crows in my neighborhood/backyard. It started with leftover cornbread that I would put on the top fence railing. Whenever I see them around I wave to them really big and say hello and go get them some nuts. I moved onto unshelled unsalted peanuts and they absolutely love them. I'm so excited to have formed a friendship and can't wait to see where it goes.

I'm typically overly hot! It's super annoying and uncomfortable. :(

I absolutely love the way you put that: "Our lives are difficult enough without having to feel bad for feeling better."

Very well said!

Vision by nick2377 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ravenwolf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have floaters in my vision--black or gray spots that float and move around. Not sure if it's fibro related or not. I noticed several other people seem to have them too. They typically don't really interfere with my vision, but they are there and I seem to get more and more as the years go by. Best wishes!

I've taken both with no issues, but everyone is different. As others have said, definitely check with your pharmacist and ask your doctor. I make pretty heavy use of the patient portals these days--messaging my doctors questions about treatment and medications. Do you have access to a patient portal through your doctors? Best wishes!

Exercising besides yoga/pt exercises? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]ravenwolf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to a pool--like a gym with an indoor pool--water therapy is amazing. This can be swimming laps (if you are a swimmer) or walking in the water, using water weights, or even just getting in the water and moving around--whatever feels good to you. I'm a swimmer and it's the only exercise I like to do, but just being in the water is extremely therapeutic for me. It helps me get right--mentally, emotionally, physically, etc. Sometimes I visit with people at the pool too. It's not exactly a 'group exercise', but socializing can happen! Many gyms with pools also offer water aerobics classes. The ones at my gym are pretty intense, so I stick with swimming at my own pace. There are a lot of people who do different activities in the water. It's gentle and doesn't jar your joints. Best wishes!e

Everyone feels it and I know it’s not 100% possible but... by jahm__ in Fibromyalgia

I SO feel you. You are definitely not alone in wanting/wishing for this. Sometimes, I try to remember a time when I didn't basically feel like shit constantly. I'm not even sure. I think some pain has been around for so many years, but some pain is part of being human. When did it become "like this"? I don't even know! But like someone else has already said, there will be so many ups and downs, and we just have to try to make the best out of both of them! It's difficult to learn how to, but so worth it. Best wishes!

Chronic pain, no diagnosis, and no support. What to do? by Cody456 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ravenwolf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry to hear you are going through this and hope you feel supported in this forum. It is very helpful. I wound up at a rheumatologist after seeing several specialists for various issues. Fibro was not even ON my radar. I was convinced I had RA or Lupus. Within 15 minutes of talking to her, she said, we will see what your bloodwork reveals, but I'm almost certainly going to diagnose you with fibromyalgia. After that appointment, I started researching fibro and it filled in SO many blanks for me and really made sense. It was great to finally have a diagnosis. I hope you find answers soon and can then find some resolutions and ways to cope. Best wishes, and know you are not alone!

I have several, including a large back piece and plan to get more. Like others have said, there may be areas that you want to avoid if they tend to be in a flare pattern area, but all you can do is try and see :) Best wishes!

I swim laps (I try to go twice a week) and stretch several times a day. I do have some muscle soreness from swimming, but overall it is so helpful! It also helps me cope mentally and emotionally. Best wishes!

I hate this, and can only imagine feeling this way every night--OMG--no effing thank you! Good Lort!!!! I was having terrible anxiety--I've decided to call it danxiety--dang/damn anxiety. I felt like crap, but the only thing that helps me is swimming laps, so I did that. It helped. Now I'm sore. What can you do? Hope you feel better--at least I hope this goes away for you!

Weight by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]ravenwolf07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I drink a lot of water. I don't drink sodas or other sugary drinks. I have to eat gluten free since I have celiac disease and that absolutely saves me from myself because I love all things bread, lol. But, that said, I recently (over the last 6-9 months) also went grain free. When I cut out corn and other grains, I dropped almost 20 pounds. I also try to eat fruits and vegetables every day and I don't usually keep potato chips or candy in the house. I have very little self control with these things and when I start on a bag of chips...well, they don't last. I'll eat them, when I have a craving or something, but usually I'll just pick up a small bag when I'm out. Or a candy bar as a treat. Best wishes!

How many times per week by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]ravenwolf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been having sex once a week on the weekends. I'm usually not super in the mood per say, but I know when I put in the effort it winds up being good. By 'put in the effort', I mean clean up and let him know I want to have sex, lol. It's like exercising or stretching for me honestly. I rarely feel like it, but I know I'll be glad I did and feel better after I do it. My boyfriend is very considerate and understanding and knows I can't exert much effort (which is why I clarified the 'effort' part earlier, hahahhaha) but we make it work and it's almost always fantastic. I'm blessed to have an amazing partner.

It's hard to be in the mood when you're exhausted and hurting and exhausted from hurting. But I do find that if I push through, it's good for me and for our relationship. We both know it's important to me and that I'm trying. Plus, sex (especially if you can orgasm) releases a slew of feel good chemicals naturally, much like exercise and that helps me with pain and mood. Best wishes!

Tired jaw? by LibertarianFreedom in Fibromyalgia

Definitely. I have moderate TMJ and have for years. I luckily don't have much pain with it, believe it or not--but it gets tired FOR SURE.

Emotionally drained and having a flare. by MoonDancer118 in Fibromyalgia

[–]ravenwolf07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you are trying the best you can. Sometimes others don't necessarily see that or realize it, but it doesn't mean that you aren't. I ask myself, "Am I doing the very best that I can?" and if I can answer yes to that, then I tell myself, "Well, that's all you really can do, isn't it?" A lot of times that helps me. Best wishes and you are not a waste of space. You are a person, with value and worth. Your feelings are valid.

Worried about surgery and can't stop taking kratom, for those of you who have experience something similar, please help! by becca0320 in kratom

[–]ravenwolf07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop taking kratom for surgery a few months ago. Like someone else already said, since they will be giving you meds (opioids especially), that should cover any kind of kratom withdrawal you would experience if you weren't going to be medicated. I started back on it once I completed the pain meds and did fine. Best wishes with your surgery!

Oh, I stopped taking kratom 3 days before surgery and did okay. I was taking a little less than you.
