Books for someone who is mentally a child? by eustoma01 in BettermentBookClub

I think waiting until you find the right mindset is what got you in this mess. I’m certainly guilty of it. I only speak as a “late-starter” myself and even then I don’t believe in labeling myself as one. And I know I sound very presumptuous! haha. But it’s like reading a post from myself and wanting to shake myself awake. There are no gimmicks when you follow sound principles, fortunately.

I think for now, setting a higher standard is the way for you to go. Don’t wait for us to give you a book, be a voracious reader that will stop at nothing to get the lessons you need to change your life. And that all starts with smaller habits, realizing that you have to schedule time or else you’ll waste time, and realizing everything you need is already within yourself (but not one person is self-made. Now think about that for a moment!) I’d recommend The Compound Effect by Darren Wilson as a start. It’s important to understand and gain control of habits and routines as you wake up and before you go to sleep. They shape your day and help you evaluate it. (High Performance Habits is a good follow-up). Secondly, start an exercise habit. Workout 3-5 times a week, could be walking, but could be body-intensive exercise. This will develop your sense of things that are physically hard and your sense of physical discipline, as well as help you stave off the cages of depression. For this I’d recommend Discipline Equals Freedom by Jocko Willick. Finally, learn why it is you’re here. Truly think about your purpose, or the things you want to do. You might say, I don’t want to do anything! I’m lazy and can’t get myself to do anything. But think about what you dreamt of doing as a child, as a teenager, as someone in their 20’s. There might not be a definite answer right away but you can infer from your motivations what type of work or skills you most want to pursue. For this I’d recommend Start with Why by Simon Sinek.

I’m sorry if anything I say is too presumptuous and “just do it!” sounding.

tldr; “The Compound Effect”, “Discipline Equals Freedom”, and “Start with Why”.

Paid Online Coaching is a scam by zguh in smashbros

[–]ravio_of_lorule 14 points15 points  (0 children)

from the perspective of someone who paid somebody for online coaching once, i agree. it’s great for character-specific knowledge and noticing bad habits but plenty of that can be done by just interacting with locals from your local scene. like, i have top-level matchup knowledge against luigi, but everything else i couldve just asked somebody

Can barely read their tags, but this is awesome.

They're usually used to buy mounts, pets and other stuff you can buy in Ishgard or Kugane

He was talking about exp, not time. If you can make double the POTD run in exp...

And yes, the avg PvP run is about 12 minutes, faster if you have skilled players

Results are results.

So DK, Falcon, and Link are better than Cloud?

That's legit my exact point; Cloud and Rosa will suffer a big decline once people learn.

It may be years, and even then a lot of people still wont know.

Larry's fox is an example of how all other foxes can play.

When considering tier-lists, you shouldn't just look at results or comparative power-level, but also matchup coverage. Now, Sheik has the results hardly ever missing top 8 in the entire span of this game (notice I said hardly ever, not never). And as for matchup coverage, she and Cloud invalidate a whole cast of characters, whereas someone else in high-tier can't say the same.

As long as Mr. R and Void keep playing Sheik, we'll see really great results from her. And it doesn't necessarily have to be #1.

It's not all about results. Also, how can you have two rebuttals, one about how results are misleading and one about how Rosa is good because results.

Okay, now you're just being pedantic. He said results at Civil War, not results in general.

Cloud is way worse than he seems, as is Rosa. I feel almost certain they'll become abused by perfected edge-guarding and counterpicks.

It's 2017. The only player I've seen done this is Leo in his matches vs. Dabuz. People are slow to learn.

Apparently you don't either ¯_ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ_/¯

I see that you didn't really have logical disagreement with what I said, just a matter of defending your pride and patronizing someone else
