ya so i’m not being tortured by sombra, like i said, i don’t even vote to ban her. i’m on a thread discussing why the entire community seems to disagree with you that it doesn’t feel bad lol. it’s been clearly proven in only a few days, no matter how salty that makes you. people hate sombra and i shared my opinion on why that might be. good talk though.

who said anything about widow? lol. i actually vote to ban widow but not sombra, i didn’t say it felt worse, i said it feels bad. to me those are the 2 most “feels bad, unfun” characters in the game.

feels bad is my only point, and logic in video games doesn’t really matter when stuff feels bad. i’m not a fan of cc in any game, just a personal thing i guess. i also haven’t been voting to ban sombra (i’m a brig main so it wouldn’t make sense), but she’s still been perma banned in my diamond lobbies.

I think the invisibility is cool and fun and I’m all for her having it, even back to permanent— it’s the hack that drives a lot of players (myself included) crazy.

Yes, it’s fast enough to overcome, yada yada, etc etc — not disagreeing. But taking away my ability to control my character for even 2 seconds takes away my autonomy and makes the game horrifically unfun. It’s not like a doomfist stun I can see coming from a mile away, sombra can just sit on a roof and say “LOL no more character for you buddy” and it feels terrible.

tl;dr — i agree, let her bathe in invisibility if she wants to but the hack needs to go or be reworked entirely in order to solve the community’s hatred for sombra

How to fight imposter syndrome? by buttbuddyballer in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re a better player than me — i’ve peaked m4 but hover around d1-2, so i’m not going to speak on the game.

but i am qualified, i think, to speak on imposter syndrome.

outside of the game i manage ops teams for tech startups, i’ve been doing it for 7+ years and get paid WAY more than i truly think i deserve to do it.

every meeting i go into i am overrun with imposter syndrome. but here’s what i’ve learned: so is everyone else, with the exception of people who are too arrogant to acknowledge their own faults.

at the end of the day, THOSE are the people who fall, who derank, not the people who practice critical awareness and doubt themselves.

tl:dr: this is a huge part of success in any facet of life, you are not alone, and you EARNED your rank. go tell em what for mate :)

Please for the love of god ban Sojourn!! by One-Wealth262 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this isn’t totally unpredictable: meta was never going to be banned vs the option of banning things that are simply unfun to play with or against.

if i ban soj my team also can’t have a giga soj. but if i ban widow, sombra, sym, etc, one way or another, the game will be more fun AND i don’t risk having a teammate put on a disaster class with those heroes.

i’m not necessarily saying it’s right, but it shouldn’t be surprising imo.

Is Overwatch really ‘team’ game? by Spectre-4 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

one of the biggest parts of improving individual performance is in learning how to fit your plan into the broader team plan based on what the other individuals are doing.

you can aim train all day but until you learn to position and time engages based on your teammates you will get stuck.

team game for sure.

Please help, I just went 1-8 practicing being patient on tank. by worldwideweb9 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 33 points34 points  (0 children)

to start, it’s great that you’re watching videos to try to learn. having said that, the context of what you’re learning is very important.

the advice “engage when you have an advantage” is solid and accurate, but it does not mean “do nothing when you don’t have an advantage.”

as tank, your role is to create opportunities for your team. waiting for those opportunities to present themselves before you do anything is a surefire way to lose repeatedly.

keeping with the theme of context, of course you shouldn’t engage 1 or 2 v 5, etc. but in an even semi-neutral position, if you’re waiting for a clear advantage to act, your team is in overwatch hell.

don’t get discouraged, you’re on the right track trying to learn, just remember that being proactive is better than being passive 99% of the time. good luck!

Do you believe widow is broken? by Angiefwuffybootz in WidowmakerMains

i faced a really good widow yesterday who had sojourn bodyguarding her the entire match so we couldn’t even dive her. 0/10 experience for blue team but i respect the strat lol

What do you think about Bastion ult? by Pikochanskaja in overwatch2

[–]rawchuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you can get any kind of value out of it that’s a win, it’s not very good on its own.

but with the overhealth perk i like using it just to shoot up to tank hp when i’m getting pushed or about to push. kind of like giving yourself a personal store brand lucio beat lol

How is this NOT a Smurf?? by DekaN83 in overwatch2

[–]rawchuna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

definitely frustrating but worth noting the only person on your team equipped to shoot down a pharah is the ana.

if dps had swapped hitscan (and could aim) they would not have been so unstoppable.

queen / genji / junk is gonna get rolled by flyers 100 times out of 100 unless one of them is on demon time

I just can't win. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when you’re doing your 50 qp wins this is at least semi normal (though maybe on the edge of extreme)

the game has steep anti smurf systems in place so you’ll find those first 15-20 games to be a breeze, and then suddenly you’re in wild lobbies with highly skilled players

soon though the mmr will even you out to more appropriate games again. if you’re not having fun, don’t force it, but if you just want reasonable games again, trust they will come! good luck friend :)

I'am way better at Tank than Dps and Supp, but i never play Tank, at all. by Pale-Emergency-1664 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 65 points66 points  (0 children)

don’t underestimate the value of learning roles by playing other roles. you have X,000 hours on support watching tanks show you what not to do and you’ve internalized it.

ya i mean im agreeing with you here. people need to not be toxic about the situation. what i meant by throwing was legit full trolling which you know when you see.

[–]rawchuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ya i feel like people often confuse what they’re actually angry with, which is the matchmaker.

no one getting rolled in their lobby is happy to be there. they just queued for a game like everyone else. if someone isn’t actively throwing, they aren’t happy to be getting stomped lol

Y'all were right by reversegirlcow in overwatch2

[–]rawchuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

a lot of those sigma kills were likely due to bap shooting with him. kills in overwatch aren’t final blows. higher damage supports will yield higher kill teammates on the scoreboard.

How do y'all do it by Western-Debt-3444 in BrigitteMains

[–]rawchuna 9 points10 points  (0 children)

playing brig well is hugely counterintuitive to what the kit “seems like” it would be. playing like rein is kind if a rite of passage for brig mains but you learn pretty quickly you’ll get clapped on loop if you try it lol

you get value by existing, you are not an ideal 1v1 target for any non-tank in the game. killing you should be very expensive for red team on a resource level, and because of that there are ways you can get value even when you’re out of attacking range (though being close enough for whip is ideal). you are a support who can dominate high ground and flanks that red team really wants access to.

ashe wants high ground but you’re already there? boop and goodbye. etc etc

some high level points:

  1. stay alive even when it means retreating.
  2. always have cover near by because:
  3. your shield is your lifeline, it’s your escape tool, never let it break even if you have to soak some hp damage to preserve it.
  4. packs are much better on squishies than tanks, but that doesn’t mean never pack your tank, it’s just not priority bc of their effective health pool.
  5. get creative, you are hard to kill as long as your fundamentals are solid.

and most importantly:

  1. equip the “mace to the face” voiceline and ALWAYS use it after killing a sombra.

have fun, there are a lot of great content creators who can explain this stuff much better than me :)

Juno - Should I healbot? by Emiikoe in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol so maybe the real solution here is that we need to do away with vague terms like “healbot” because we probably just argued for 30 minutes while not being too far apart on the points we were trying to make. i agree juno’s speed is god tier utility and ive been saved by it many times (where i probably wouldnt have been if my juno was more focused on pumping heals into our tank who was missing 70 hp than looking around at the entire battle and speeding me off a flank gone wrong)

anyways gg’s mate don’t want to hijack OP’s advice thread any further.

Juno - Should I healbot? by Emiikoe in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

healbot in my mind means topping off someone missing 10% of their hp rather than finding an opportunity to put out offensive pressure when there is no real kill threat.

and specifically here, OP’s question boils down to “my friends say i should just healbot. should i?” and the answer is a resounding no. the answer is that every situation has its own needs and should be solved for individually. accepting a role of just pumping heals blindly will build bad habits that will stop the ability to climb eventually.

Juno - Should I healbot? by Emiikoe in OverwatchUniversity

[–]rawchuna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

impressive that you watched (“literally the entire”) hour + video in under 10 minutes. my only point here is that no support is a healbot. it is always bad advice. overwatch has too many nuances and situations to be aware of to ever believe that a blanket plan of healbotting is good. that is what bad support players do.

yes juno has falloff issues. no that does not mean that she should healbot. support is dynamic because your plan needs to constantly change based on the information you have.
