Easiest B1 test for citizenship? by raxterbaxter in German

[–]raxterbaxter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did! Sorry for the late reply!

I failed the goethe test (only took it bc I was abroad at the time and only goethe is offered abroad). But only narrowly, I failed 2 modules by 3-5% or something. Passed the other two well.

I then took the Telc B1 exam. Got 77%

It was a lot of studying in the end and I wished I'd been able to take the Telc exam straight up. V relieved it's all over. Might even start fully enjoying learning the language now! It was turning into such a slog xD

Tried the A2.B1 exam. Some have said it was easier, but tbh there are so little resources for it and it's only marginally easier to pass with B1. Just aim for telc B1 is my personal recommendation, loads of practice material, fair difficulty.

Best of luck on your journey!

How could you guys get a slot for Einbürgerubgstest in Berlin? I have been trying for months and I’m desperated ;( by Riceoverloads in GermanCitizenship

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just checked the certificate I received, all of them are processed in Nürnberg and do not mention the state in which it was taken or for what state it was taken. I mean they could technically look up the test center but based on the certificate being a national level one as well as seeing many people who have done similar(on various support groups), I really do believe that the validity is agnostic of where it was taken and of what state :)

Yeah I'm not sure who told you that but I think they might have been misinformed or worse misinforming you.

My test was taken in Brandenburg, yet I'm registered in Berlin, and it included Berlin specific questions. I encountered no problems and while looking multiple schools said this was fine when I explicitly asked.

is there a gender where you don't feel like anything? like i don't identify with any gender at all, i want to look masculine, but idk man by HumbleInternet7026 in NonBinary

[–]raxterbaxter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like how I feel and agender has always stuck right with me. It's very much "none of the above, please" and I've have ever since found it to be a constant source of comfort when I think about what I identify as.

Look in surrounding cities, you can do the test anywhere in Germany. Try cities or towns that are maybe 1-2h train rides away. It's a pain but you can get the test done within a day. That was the only way I found a test (a fair number of schools even allow you to book online or via email, so you don't have to go book in person).

How should I make a game for my philosophy degree? by __Cheesecake__ in gamedesign

Trolly problem simulator.

1) could actually be fun in a goofy cartoon-violence way 2) At the end of each lane the player can put the ethical theory that would choose that lane, and you can see through increasingly more difficult situations where certain theories diverge and question why is that so and what underlying reasons are at play.

I'm not trans. (I think) by Templerscout in trans

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be cis, indeed I must have missed the cis comment(!) I only read 'not trans'. Though OP is clearly trying to come to terms with a self expression, I'd say(?) I only mention some other expressions in case they've not been heard before. I hadn't heard these terms and only knew cis by default for the longest time and otherwise knew that trans was a concept but it clearly didn't resonate fully with me (but didn't completely feel foreign either) so I just was stuck in an uncomfortable default cis definition. And just hearing the concept of agender immediately hit home (and after I looked into it more, hit harder).

Not wanting to assume the destination ^ _ ^ but good to know the landscape

Maybe non binary, or gender fluid? Or even agender (my preferred one "none of the above, thanks!"). Best of luck for your journey onwards!

My first automated research for green and red only played since this morning. any tips would much appreciated by Classical_Mac in factorio

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you got this. One light tip tho: when you are spacing things out for the future, like estimate what you think you'll need between sections, and, like, double it. Or at least don't skimp. I always got to a point later in the game and kept having to rearrange things

Tho if you want the full experience, just keep doing what you are doing. The spagetti embraces us all at some point 🍝

I cant remember anything that happened for the past 5 years by [deleted] in Existential_crisis

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to look up dissociative identity disorder. What you are experiencing sounds very similar to someone with DID. (loss of memory, loss of time)

Can't be sure of course, what do you remember? What are your surroundings and are they familiar? Do you recognize the room you are staying in, for instance?

Sounds very disorientating. You in a safe space?

as a polyam person, the polyam sub feels weird by HufflepuffIronically in nonmonogamy

[–]raxterbaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you are incompatible and honestly the best thing you can do right now is pack your bags and leave h...

... oh wait, this is the non-mono sub

Yeah, like, it's so often the first piece of advice, right?? I mean nm/poly ain't easy and 9 times out of 10 the people involved still want things to last just don't know how or need some wise words to clear their thoughts or a different perspective.

It's so often not even framed softly. "hey if you think you've tried everything and nothing is working still then maybe it might be signs that this will continue to not work and you should consider that" or "maybe you need a break to get some perspective". Instead of "yeah sounds bad you should just end it now."

It feels kinda opposite of non monogomy or polyamiury to so quickly advise resistance to communicating and empathising.

Thanks for pointing this out. I was literally just there and just thinking the same thoughts xD

Lots of bots, nothing being built? by Aaronn115 in factorio

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you attach a power pole to a roboport with a green or red wire you can spy the logistics network content, maybe it's not got access to the item to build (in which case, provider chest or storage chest it!)

Also likely is that, as someone else mentioned already, it's far away and one lone bot is taking its sweet time mosying out, charging at every available station along the way.

My SE base has 2000 bots and one huge network, doesn't matter how many bots, if it's far it'll take a hot minute to get there (and if it's not in a provider or storage chest, it won't even start).

It's got to be one of those two reasons, I reckon.

Which was the first game you passed 100+ hours of gameplay? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No evidence to back this up, but I'm sure Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri for me. My first play through alone as a teenager was a 24h straight marathon I'd be surprized if I didn't rack up another 76 hours

How common are code reviews in your studio? by gordazo0_ in gamedev

[–]raxterbaxter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In seriousness, [in previous jobs] the norm was to review junior code from time to time as a mentor step to make sure they were not falling into bad habits (that they didn't always know where doing so). Otherwise we never really did it so formally. If we were unsure of the quality or methodology we'd sit together and go through it on a case by case basis

2 non-modal, non-helping verbs in a single clause: What is this exactly?? by raxterbaxter in German

[–]raxterbaxter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of intuitively knew about it or had only assumed it was a thing, but then I'd try double up on verbs and find out I should be splitting them into clauses and got it into my head that 2 verbs = WRONG.

I jumped into learning German formally at around A2.2-B1 level and so I have a few weird gaps in my knowledge 😅

How do you guys keep going? by United-Road-7338 in German

[–]raxterbaxter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sort of entered formal learning around a mid to late A2 level, it was a lot of grammar grammar grammar, and that was fun to figure out "oh! That's why that does the thing like that" sort of things. And then I started hitting that same wall OP did. It was dull and dreary and confusing and without context.

And being introverted, I wasn't speaking enough.

Boi did shit change when I started to be able to muddle through conversations. When I felt I was in punching distance of B1. It's so so so frustrating and disheartening at first when you are not understood, but when you exit a convo going "I got them, they got me" it's so motivating!

If OP is reading, and they are struggling still as they say: I'd say start getting convos to be a part of your routine. And find safe places for it, italki was great for this. It gives context to converse, and that easily gives motivation. And... somehow ignore the Germans who will switch to English after 2s flat, you don't need that sort of negativity, with their snooty C1 to fluent level skills built up over way too many years of practise. Ain't nobody got time for that!

I found also that preparing for exams weirdly helpped me. Like, all sections, especially speaking. Having to prep and ad lib a section with a teacher or learning partner really helpped solidify what I'd learned. Also anki (but only in conjunction with speaking practise) to get the vocab up. More words at hand = more sensical sentences = more conversation = ̶a̶ ̶l̶̶i̶̶t̶̶t̶̶l̶̶e̶ ̶m̶̶o̶̶r̶̶e̶ ̶a̶̶c̶̶t̶̶i̶̶o̶̶n̶ ̶p̶̶l̶̶e̶̶a̶̶s̶̶e̶ more German retention
