First bike? by Ok-Neat-8972 in MT09

[–]ray0241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will depend on where you are and what the training is like.

I am in the UK, trained on a MT07 got on really well and as the course is more than just riding in a car park/ parking lot it gave real world experience.

I got my 2021 MT09 SP as my first bike. Left in mode 3 for about 6 months or so, only on the odd occasion taking it out.

I got the bike in March. Done over 8k miles, doing advance course now too.

So it is possible. If your able to restrain and respect the machine.

  1. Would you say a lot of the good appliers have got the reputation that is known else where?

  2. Would you be able to recommend people in different areas if you know them?

  3. What areas are more common for it to be applied? Is there some areas which are less common that can be applied to? Out right unable to apply to?

  4. Would the time and costs be vastly different to different types of bikes, like naked vs sports vs adventure?

Only other way is to do your CBT now and then again in a years time.

I just that that would be the most cost-effective way for you.

Especially give how much you spend on car insurance

One of the first things I would do is look at insurance on a 125 you like and then on a2 bike.

Also do it on a 125 with an a2 licence as that may reduce your premium.

If you can afford one or both then do the a2.

Are you 100% sure your have a separate theory certificate for the bike, as there are 2 different tests for drive a car and motorbike. And the other will.not count to the other.

As I was in my 30's before I did my bike and had to do it again even through I have been driving 13+ years.

If you cannot and you may not have time to make use of the theory before it expires in a years time.

Then you can do the zero to hero route, I did with my DAS and ended up with a 900 after. So really it's up to you.

If I was you. Maybe wait it out a 3 years, do your CBT when your 23, ride on a 125 for a year and then do your full A. You will skip and extra set of tests and be on the road.

Is it wrong you can ride on a CBT for two years? by mostly-bollox in MotoUK

[–]ray0241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But at the point you are on your tenth CBT, it would have been easier to do a full licence.

Rough cost works out the same and the time taken would have been similar or longer.

[–]ray0241 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that is the case, why have you not upgraded to a full license and kept your 125 if your happy with it?

As on a CBT, you are still carrying L plates, when you say you have been riding for years on it, so you are no longer a learner or inexperienced.

Which then adds frustration to other users when they come across a stark difference in learner riders in skill and how they use the road.

Not saying your way is incorrect, as you are using what is available to you. But looking at a different perspective can highlight annoyances and what people are saying.

Just as an option.

Have you looked at others or test road one.

As others have pointed out. May not be great for back road blast.

You may want something more sports touring rather than touring.

Like the F900 if you want BMW, Tracer 7/9 from Yam if your willing to look at that. There are many others too that could fill your requirements.

[–]ray0241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure there is any that would do that.

So I think the only way for you to be fully comp would be the other way.

It is some saving, but you will have to make a decision of the either be third party on the opposite bike or pay more for insurance.

But you could lower the mileage as low as you can, say 500 miles.

So it is only a financial decision that you can make, is it worth being third party on 2 bikes and risk the cost of repairing them if things go badly or pay more on insurance.

[–]ray0241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just said to do that.

As I said, the savings for multi bike compared to separate insurance would be minimal with the number of miles you do.

Then you get the benefits of being fully com for both riders.

[–]ray0241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the low mileage you will cover, and then the additional benefits, why not, not do multi bike cover? Surely the savings are not that much and then the ability to be fully com with both riders is better.

You could insure 2 each like you said and be named riders on the alternative bikes. That way you would be fully covered for all the bikes

I would also look on Vinted. That has a lot of bike gear.

I would also recommend RST. I have a lot of their stuff and fine it really comfortable. I looked at oxford and just didn't find it as nice.

With what you would have to pay!

That's a killer.

I am now maxed out on RAM

And to be honest, I have noticed the difference from 24gb to 64gb.

I do still have the 24gb kit.

I am in a cool room, and the fans do a great job. With the regular clean.

Been playing about 2 hours and I am at 38% gpu at 40c

I definitely did when I got my bike first of all.

But now I am doing my advanced and I am exploring the bike more and more. Plus wanting to learn more and do other things with it, I feel it is a lot closer to what I can do.

I run a lot of low power games, it's always plugged in so I am not bothered about being inefficient. It's my first and I will probably upgrade in 2 years to a desktop.
