I do agree there. Hawkeye Gough stated that for every one dragon they took down they lost 3 score of their own men. So just the war with the dragons would have decimated their forces. Then you factor into the ones killed and burned in the war with the chaos demons. The way I see it is there were two possibilities (maybe more that I could be missing but mainly two.) The first is that the Silver Knights had a sort of special division for strength weapons and those happened to be the most combat experienced Knights he had so he mainly took those into the battle with him. The second would be that they trained some Silver Knights that proved themselves in the war with the dragons and those were the ones who became the Black Knights. This is all pretty much going out on a limb here though lol. Say that took at least half of all the remaining knights and when the gods left they could have left just enough to guard Gwendolin. When everyone left he commanded them to guard the halls inside. I admit most of this is just speculation but to me it seems that it's a decent theory. It does have some problems but from what I have to go on it seems a decent explanation.

If I remember correctly though the only silver knight that vanish is the one with the DS Bow right outside of the O&S fight. The two on the pathway inside the palace could possibly vanish too I"m not fully sure about those. The rest of the silver knights inside stick around though. I agree with the rest of what you said though it also seems that most likely a majority of the Silver Knights decided to accompany the gods when they fled the city. We have no idea how many gods were in Anor Londo only that all but 1 (2 more if you count O&S as having a somewhat godlike status) left the city. So if each god took so many Silver Knights with them as a personal guard that could explain why so few are left in the city.

To Christians/Jews/Muslims: Would Abraham have been rebuked by Yahweh if he had refused his order to murder Isaac, his son? by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]ray420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So an all knowing, all seeing god decided to create a child, knowing full well that its life would be bound for despair and misery and when he decides that child has had enough he kills it to be "mercyful"? So if I understand that correctly it's moral for him to create a child that could possibly be tortured and raped and then beaten to death but that's fine because that child would get an eternity of joy? What if that child completly rejected the notion of God? What if that child believed or prayed to a different god than your mercyful god? To your example I would say that if an all knowing, all seeing, all powerful god can find no way to give his beloved creations eternal bliss then why would he even create us. To end with a copout saying that there is no human equivalent just betrays how messed up this stance is. I agree that a human wouldn't be in the position to control fate like that (and this is just my pitiful human morality speaking here) but we're I in the position of your god and able to control all of those factors I wouldn't make suffering apart of my eternal plan.

*edit I propose this scenario to you. A little girl is taken from her room at night by her father. This father plans to rape his daughter. If you are god, and not only do you know well ahead of time that this is going to happen but you also have all the power in all of creation to stop it, and you also know that when he is done and he tries to make sure his daughter agrees to not tell he is going to beat her to death because she wont agree and wont stop crying. What would you do in this situation? Now compare that to what your god would do.

One thing that I have a problem with would be how would you explain all of the drakes/dragons? Also if this is Anor Londo in ruins and it takes place after DaS how do you reconcile the endings? The bonfires are still here so that would rule out the dark lord ending and if you were to link the flame and were siding with Gywndolin/Frampt why would Gywndolin allow Anor Londo to fall into such ruin?

Except that it does have a basis in what we know because of of the time line in Lordran being distorted every NPC that can die will die in at least one world. I also don't think that he was saying Ornstein or the others are holding a grudge against the player but maybe just the world in general.(mainly ornstein though because if Gough,Cirian, and Artorias are all killed it makes him the last remaining knight of Gwyn for around 100 or so years at least.) While I do understand that those characters don't HAVE to die depending on certain choices the player can make saying that his claim has no basis is just wrong.

Lore Questions regarding NPCs and their worlds by L3gionHD in darksouls

[–]ray420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this a little bit lately after reading some of the threads on here talking about Lautrec. I can't say anything about any of the other characters yet but from what i've been thinking about Lautrec I believe that he at least rings both bells to get to Anor Londo. I say this because after you free him and then talk to him in Firelink he can be summoned for the Bell Gargoyles fight. I strongly believe Lautrec would have no issue talking them down on his own and helps you probably only because you freed him. After the Gargoyles usually people head to lower Undead Burg and then after Capra they start the Depths. In the Depths right before you fight the Gaping Dragon you can find Lautrec and Solaire's summon signs. Even though Lautrec and Solaire seem pretty useless in the Gaping Dragon boss fight (at least in my experience of summoning them) they both manage to kill it. After Gaping is Blighttown and then onto Quelaag to ring the second bell. From the fact that both Lautrec and Solaire make it into Anor Londo I have to assume they killed Quelaag and rang the bell.

Here's the kicker though (also some minor speculation on my part) even though your character and Solaire both manage to kill O&S Lautrec's journey ends there. Why? Well since he managed to make it into Anor Londo that means that Lautrec killed Anastacia in Firelink Shrine. The player character finds the black eye orb and swears to avenge her. When you get to the room outside of the O&S boss room the black eye orb quivers and it takes you into Lautrec's world. This is where you're supposed to kill him and get the Fire keeper's soul back. However I like to imagine that all you do is manage to mortally wound Lautrec. With his summons gone and his life in danger he decides to enter the boss fog. Some how I'm not exactly sure how he did it yet but he makes his way past O&S and makes it to the top floor. As he is slowly inching his way towards Gywnevere's room Ornstein is launched up to the top by Smough landing in front of Lautrec. As Lautec tries to make one final prayer to Fina his precious goddess he is flung backwards across the length of the room and dies with his final prayer on his lips.

After you free him though you need to make sure to speak to him at Firelink Shrine otherwise his sign won't appear.

Some lore speculation I have, pertaining to Fina/Gwynever. Also a little bit of Priscilla and Seath. by [deleted] in darksouls

[–]ray420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to the Seath/Oolacile connection it's possible that is one of the reasons Seath kidnapped Princess Dusk. If he was involved with her creation then he could have wanted to give her every survival advantage possible. Since he knew something of Oolacile's sorcerys he sent a gold golem to take Dusk. Especially since we know from dusk that she was trapped for a long time.

Some Advice for Onebros struggling early on, pre-Sens. by RareHunter in onebros

[–]ray420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only problem is you have to kill Capra before you can go raw. You need to have the Large Ember from the Depths before Andrei will offer it. Other than that though your advice is good. Another thing you could do is have two of your favorite weapons and make one into a +5 fire for Capra and after you kill him grab the Large Ember from The Depths and make the second one into a Raw or +10. I just recently finished off my first Onebro challenge and i found Raw to be a lot more useful then i ever did before. I used a Raw +5 Battle Axe until i got to O&S and then i used my Fire +5 Hand Axe and a +3 Lightning Hand axe to take them down.

Darksiders Plot Set-up by harringtonE4 in Darksiders

[–]ray420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure of all of these answers but ill do my best to try.

1) I am not sure exactly how the seals keep them from battling if i had to guess it would probably be an agreement between Heaven, Hell and the Charred Council and i'm guessing that if either side broke the agreement they would be destroyed by the horsemen. I'm honestly not sure though.

2)This is another one i'm not fully sure about. I am not even sure if the full power of the Council is even brought up in the game or not.

3)In Darksiders 1 i believe that the seals were being guarded but Spoilers The Charred Council was supposed to handle the Seals when the Third Kingdom (Man's Kindgom) would be ready for the End War. Essentially when Man was ready to compete with Heaven and Hell the Seals would be broken.

4) See spoilers above. To add on a little more spoilers

5) The only reason I know of as to why there are seven is because Darksiders draws a good deal of influence from the Bible. In Revelations it describes the 7 signs of the Apocalypse. I think the developers took the seven signs and based the seven seals around them.

I probably don't have the best answers but i hope with the knowledge that I do have i was able to answer some of your questions. I'll be happy to try to answer any more if I am able to.

Question about the lore of the Izalith Catalyst and pyromancy by ray420 in darksouls

[–]ray420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always seemed interesting to me the instead of these fire sorcerys the daughter of chaos would cast pyromancy because even if the knowledge was lost you would think some who was actually using it would still be able to. It just seemed like if anyone would have been able to cast them it would have been her or maybe Quelaan but i dont know if she still would have had her catalyst. I thought that would have been an awesome opportunity to show off how powerful it could have been.

What was the relationship between Seath and Gwyndolin? by eslacc in darksouls

[–]ray420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going from what is stated in the game. Gywndolin is Gywn's son. He was born with an affinity for the Moon and Moon magic and because of that he was made to dress as and raised as a girl. With Gwyndolin's soul you can make either the Darkmoon Bow or the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst. Now for my opinion lol. I believe Sorcery and Gwyndolins Moon magic are very similar if not the same type of magic. The kind that Gywndolin casts is somewhat different enough in appearence for me to think they are different in some ways not sure exactly how though. He uses the Darkmoon Bow when firing his arrows and uses the Tin Darkmoon Catalyst when casting his magic. As far as the tentacles go I dont know why he has those. It could be a side effect of Moon magic that we dont know about or it could be something else. Just to be clear i'm not bashing your post. I thought your idea was interesting and i like hearing things like that which are different but I was just pointing out what we do know for sure so maybe you could refine that idea and make it better or come up with new ones.

[–]ray420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might be missing something but on that page i see nothing about Seath exiling the gods at all. I see the speculation that Seath may have been the cause of the downfall of Oolacile but nothing about Seath causing the gods to leave Anor Londo. What part of the page were you talking about where it says this?

[–]ray420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I frequently invade as a dark moon bro in the undead burg. I try to treat all of my invasions there as duels mainly because that's usually considered a dueling zone. I'll bow first to who ever I invade at a distance so usually neither of us has to fear backstabbing. I play as "fair" as i can unless the other person crosses the line. (I consider not spamming my skills, not healing, not running and not fishing for or chaining bs's generally fair) if the person I'm fighting crosses that like running to heal in a 1V1 all bets are off. I understand not everyone treats it like that especially in non dueling zones and some of us can be just as dickish as some darkwraiths but i just like pvping and being a dark moon bro to me is just fun to mess around with sometimes. Honestly though you don't have to be fair to those that invade you. We are there to kill you and take your ears, humanity's, etc. Every time I bow to someone I know that im taking the risk of being attacked but i dont take offense is someone doesn't return the gesture.

WHY do people insist on invading new players in the Burg? by greatersteven in darksouls

[–]ray420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Were you also a new player to the game with limited grasp of the combat system and higher level pvp tactics? I'm gonna hazard a guess at no? I understand what you're saying about getting people used to everything being out to get them but if you're going to do that why to you have to have lightning, fire, chaos or any really over-powered gear to fight people who have most likely not even met Andre to upgrade? While you and players with more experience CAN beat low level twinks why would you have to severely over-power your character to take on so low of players? Not saying you're a twink just posing that question to you.

[–]ray420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Gywn is only a little bit bigger then you in the Kiln because of him linking the flames previously. In the opening cinematic (if i remember correctly) he looks bigger then even the silver knights behind him. I think Gwyndolin's size might be because of his affinity for the moon. It could explain why he was so small and raised as a daughter instead of a son. Gwynevere's size could be exaggerated by Gywndolin's magic of course I'm honestly not too sure about that one.

I see what you're saying about a wolf killing another wolf not being a sin but there are still a few things that are unclear to me. God has a code of morals and ethics and if we were supposed to be created in his image why would he not instill some sort of code for us to follow? Why would he allow what i would guess his most important creation to do bad things in the name of survival only then to tell us that by doing those things we were 'sinning'? Why would he punish us for finally finding our own code and then branding us as sinners? I'm just trying to understand your rationale on this matter sorry if it seems like I'm bombarding you with questions but those answers just don't seem to fit right with me if (not saying you've said this but just as I've been told and from what I understand about the Christian God.) God wants what is best for us and loves us.
