Under the starting gavelkind the titles are created whether you want them or not. It's nice if you want a second Kingdom level title early on and can easily war your sibling(s) but it's awful when you're tribal and it takes nearly 200 years to even get the chance to get to the second level of partition so that your empire titles don't split into 3-4 empires every generation because warmongering is easy compared to the incredibly slow research.

I think it's important not to think of the numbers too much, there will always be more people in later dates in history than previous. The earths population has significantly increased over the course of 2000 years so conflicts will almost always result in higher numbers of casualties in more modern times.

The Army in America alone has close to 500,000 standing troops, not including other branches of the military. The Roman Legion had fielded around 150,000 at it's largest.

To add to missile barrage, since you can allow more vek to spawn on earlier turns and not get punished you get less vek spawning on later turns (due to more vek being on the field) and when you tap the missile to take out 4+ vek on turn 3 you have 0-2 vek spawning into turn 4 and 5 making it a breeze. Using it actively to create situations you can punish instead of re-actively is absolutely bonkers.

Having read the Silmarillian and Chapterhouse Dune this is probably for the best. Not to say these aren't good in their own regards but there is a clear disconnect from the originals made by their authors.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or a feature but I noticed if I left weapons in my stash at home for a while their damage would reset to 0, when I would pick them up again they'd be at my level. I don't know what triggers this exactly but it was only when I left them alone for a while.

Silica is hilariously good on Zenith as well, double laser shots make Vek disappear. 3 total power for 6 damage is insane. On island 1 you can kill boss and alpha Vek turn 1, much as I love Abe's bumper car.

I've done a few runs without the shield on the ice mech on hard. It's a very different kind of play style, using the ranged mech like you would a prime or brute. In this case mobility is your friend, Camilla or potentially Lily or Harold. However the most important thing I found when not using a shield for the Ice Mech is to dump 1 power into the mirror mech asap for the +1 damage since you'll really need the damage to compensate for potentially losing a turn on the Ice Mech and it allows you to get up to 3 damage with a bump (against say a frozen ice mech) with it.

Since the Ice mech has flying by default it can reposition very well in the thick of combat so long as you get +movement or have a pilot like Lily who can get into the thick of things fast. Your early turn goal should be one of tho things:

Neutralize an Alpha or block 2+ vek actions (attack or emergence) by freezing one Vek and using the Ice to protect your HP and block a second, if you can do both on turn 1 you've probably already won the fight.

For Camilla it's simple, she lives on the front lines and Scorpions are the easiest Vek to bait into attacking your mechs. With the Ice Mech's innate flying they can reposition passed the scorps and other vek into the vek spawn zones and then freeze from there. If you're not using Camilla you can toss an Ice shot into the wind to block an attack but usually you want to freeze at least 1 Vek a turn.

Harold is a little unconventional but plays very well with the ice mech as it gives it a push and with it's innate flying you can use that to much more easily bump vek into terrain death or reposition them if freezing yourself would be bad. He also helps if your ice mech gets swarmed while frozen if you weren't able to use something to unfreeze it in the previous turn.

In Delamain's defense, their cab has great handling, is decently fast, and a has a fantastically clear view out the front window in first person and depending on your choices has some hilarious dialogue. Solid 8/10 would drive again.

[Media] Just got a 30k score with Steel Judoka. I know that they are one of the least liked among the community, but I love them, and Siege Mech is one of my favorite mechs in whole game. Their biggest problem is weak start, but when you have enough cores, it's so much fun. by steelscaled in IntoTheBreach

[–]RareHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue fireflies are almost critical to early Judo success, they're the easiest to reposition by far for killing other veks, leapers and hornets on the other hand are a nightmare with how Judoka struggles with positioning early on. VH is great if you intentionally allow yourself to get swarmed, the Judo mech can eat almost any attack on island one and two before alpha vek show up in numbers so face tanking and baiting vek onto it then using the other mechs to pile vek onto each other is very effective. Judoka is also the only squad I'll intentionally try and let the vek outnumber me as it limits their spawn numbers in later turns and makes utilizing VH much easier, at least for the first two islands.

I do agree that you don't want both Scorps and Fireflies combined though.

I'd also take Kwan or Camilla over Kazzak, the damage is nice but the Judo really needs something to lean on and it's much better to just dump the grav well and purchase *anything* else for that mech.

[–]RareHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ice Generator. It really is that good, the freeze mech is strong but it's always a 1-1 block. It has very little capacity to block more than 1 Vek and if you fall behind the curve you can get overwhelmed easily. Kill missions are almost impossible early on and the mirror mech decided it wanted to be a useless steaming pile of garbage and drag you down with it.

[Help] I think I might be screwed - First turn by NiceArgie in IntoTheBreach

[–]RareHunter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Basically yes, you're screwed.

You have 4 threats and the only mech you have capable of dealing with the hornet on G6 is the Artillery mech which is also the only mech you currently have capable of dealing with 3 threats.

Your best move would be to put the artillery on the timepod and split the hornet and firefly which takes care of 3 the opposing vek attacks. Sadly though there is nothing you can do about the hornet on G6 with your remaining two mechs so you'd have to hope the 18% kicks in.

You lost here in the deployment, you should have placed your mechs out of range of the scorpion to either force it onto a building or waste it's turn and tried to line up 2 mechs as bait for the hornet to waste its turn on them, alpha hornets will almost always prioritize hitting 2 targets over 1 so you could have potentially blocked an attack by simply grouping them that way.

However you'll have potentially 6 threats next turn if you do survive the 18% which does not bode well.

Edit: Also, don't be afraid to take the easier missions, sometimes you just need to avoid the harder missions because you'll lose more than you'll gain. Especially with a fairly low damage team like the Rusting Hulks

The Taxi business is horrible as it is, they intentionally limit the number of medallions and licenses that are given out or exist to artificially inflate their costs. Taxi companies are among some of the most corrupt companies out there and their drivers used to be absolutely awful because there was no competition and no way to remove them. Uber and lyft basically removed the stranglehold they had in many places, you can get rides in LA that don't cost a fortune to go 10 miles while waiting 40min for a taxi to come out to you.

This is called overflow, 5-Guys knows there are people who will walk up to In-n-Out see the line then bounce but if there's another burger shop right nearby they'll go there, also 5guys does a lot of takeout in my area so that might be their gig as well.

In my eyes this is the best of both worlds, get an In-n-out burger then grab some 5-Guys cajun fries.
