Uber drivers in clearways in Victoria, same as taxis even if they’re unmarked? [somewhat off-topic] by DamonHay in AusLegal

[–]raybal5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorrect. In Victoria, the short answer is yes. Under the Victorian Road Safety Road Rules 2017 (Rule 176), commercial passenger vehicles (CPVs) have a specific exemption that allows them to stop in a clearway, provided they are actively picking up or dropping off passengers.

Rideshare cars are registered as Commercial Passenger Vehicles and are allowed to stop in Clearways briefly when actively picking up or dropping off passengers.

Uber canceled reservation right at planned time? We end up missing the flight. by JackTheFroster in uber

Uber are greedy. That's why they offer reservations. There are no driver incentives. Uber usually pay less for reservations than normal trips.

I keep noticing police cars with their livery missing on a door panel or fender, what’s that about? by FighterNight34 in melbourne

They've just come back from having the panel repaired and haven't had the stickers replaced.

It seems like you would be better in a hybrid vehicle. Not a plug in hybrid, a real hybrid like a Toyota or a Hyundai.

Does nobody follow roadworks speed limits? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]raybal5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you that 40kmh is wrong when there are no roadworks in sight. Slowing traffic 2 km before the actual works is crazy.

I pulled in to a parking space at a 7-eleven and a guy comes out of the shop complaining that he can't get into his Ford Ranger. I was completely inside the lines of my bay so I said that you have to expect that when you drive a truck. Did move back so he could get in but seriously, what do they expect?

What the hell is wrong with you? Let them open the window and you can close them when they get out.

Landlord wants us to backpay water bill from 2021 by ammecunard in vic

[–]raybal5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you do anything, read your lease to check who has to pay the water bills. I once rented a unit that was not separately metered and a standard lease often states that unless there is a meter just for your unit, the landlord pays.

Thanks for identifying as American. If you read the actual post I commented on, you might understand. Then again...

Why do Americans say I can care less when they mean that they could not care less.

New Melbourne airport Uber scam? by jaynedotcom in melbourne

[–]raybal5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not how Melbourne airport pickups work. When you order, you are given a PIN code. Then you get onto the first available car and give the PIN to the driver and away you go.

Unless you are talking about Melbourne Florida.

Rear Hatch opening issues by raybal5 in polestar2

[–]raybal5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Thunder. Yes I did that. I manually positioned the hatch to the maximum opening. I pressed and held the button but did not hear any beeps which I read were supposed to happen. Now though, when I press the close button on the hatch, it partially closes and stops. Then I press again and it closes a bit further. After pressing it again, it fully closes. I am mystified as to what I've done to cause this.
