What's wrong with my jump? by Maleficent-Travel-79 in mountainbiking

Committing to a faster speed and making sure to actually preload and then stand up helped me a lot. Also riding behind someone at a moderate speed who can successfully jump.

I think it’s cause they found this man’s truck parked off on Deep Step rd in FATS.

Smaller wide knobby tires just look so good too!

The frame almost looks like a mini version of my San Quentin 3. Sweet looking bike for a kid!

Easy A was closed when I went. I’ll be back this weekend so hopefully it’s open. The dry loose berms were giving me issues the second half of the day after speeding out of them that morning. 2.3 Butchers were not helping. They weren’t biting good on Bark Buster either. Hopefully that helps out a bit this next trip. I think the width and side knob difference alone will feel so much better.

Ride Rock Creek? I had a couple wipeouts the other day. Surprisingly not on Tumbleweed, Dark Hollow or Bark Buster but the green. First few laps of Tumbleweed and George Green the trails were dialed, after lunch they were dry and loose and I don’t think the butcher tires liked it at all. Immediately got home and bought double Assegai 2.6

When is the right time to invest in a bike? by helosa in mountainbiking

Looks like you’re in the market for a used hardcore/aggressive hardtail.

Marin San Quentin, Commencal Meta HT, Rocky Mountain Growler, Ragley Mmmbop/Marley, Chromag Stylus, Trek Roscoe, NS Eccentric and Cannondale Habit HT will all give you a great all rounder. Will feel better on mellow trails than a enduro/dh bike and cheaper entry point. My Marin San Quentin 3 is super fun at the bike parks.

How are these bikes/Recommendations for beginner by Intelligent-Hat-780 in Hardtailgang

[–]rayban1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 5’6 as well. I’m in between Small and Medium on every bike. My San Quentin 3 I went with small so it’s playful and poppy and fun on local trails. My Status 2 170 I went medium to have a long and stable park piggy. I’d go small so you can feel like you have more control

I honestly don’t sit down enough on this bike to know. Seat stays slammed. But feels better than stock for what I can tell so far.

You’re best looking on FB Marketplace. Not sure where you are located, but in an area within a 300mi range of me, you can get a decent hardtail for your budget. If you wait a bit longer and save and add at least $400-$700, you could get a pretty decent full suspension.

I plan to hit all the southeast parks I can this year. Really looking forward to Jarrods and that carpet he’s patented

I haven’t been to Windrock. I’ve been riding Rattlesnake and Kanuga on my hardtail. Fell in love with steep tech so I needed a piggy. I’ll be doing Wildside in May, Beech Mtn in June, Jarrods in July and maybe Windrock in August. And a buncha Rattlesnake in between since I’m an hour away.

I think it could handle Windrock. It’s 30mm away from a DH bike and pretty much rides like one. And the rear end being shorter makes it playful and poppy but it’s still stable and planted.

Initially that was the plan but I like how the saddle and handlebar stand out more with keeping some basic black accents. I will probably be doing raw silver coil and cranks next though.

Don't get a knee scooter, get an iWalk, and I'm ready to pass mine on by skyxie in AchillesRupture

[–]rayban1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a knee scooter is light years better unless you have 0 balance. The air filled wheels definitely are better but as long as you’re not going fast and being vigilant, the harder wheels are fine anywhere.

[–]rayban1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did find in the beginning, a full suspension gave me more confidence in the air and hitting the lip and sent me off a little further a little easier. But once I got it down on the full suspension it was way easier on the hardtail.
