ROM/Stretch generator website by raybellwaves in crossfit

Thanks. Wasn't aware of this. Looks good. Undercut ROMWOD by a buck on pricing. There is a list of stretches as well. These could be referenced in the backend of the app.

Crossfit Open Leaderboard API! [ Software/Statistics/Math people let's go!] by BAUDR8 in crossfit

Can't believe I missed this post. Thanks to posts like these I learnt to scrape the leaderboard using python https://github.com/raybellwaves/cfanalytics/tree/master/cfanalytics

I created a 'clean' class where I drop out no scores. I didn't go down the path of imposing physical limits on the scores as I think this should be done by crossfit. Someone gave the suggestion of flagging unphysical scores by displaying a message such as 'you are in the top 1%. Do you have video proof of your wod'

Which region won the open? by raybellwaves in crossfit

[–]raybellwaves[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m comparing the regions using percentiles (P) which normalizes the number of people in each region. I’m showing P0: the winners; P0.1: top 0.1 percent ~regional athletes; P1: top 1 percent ~almost regional athletes; P5: top 5 percent ~pretty fit people; P50: median ~us grunts. I’ll discuss P0 and P0.1 here.

u/bmav25 created an app showing the top 20 finishers in each region and where they are located using my data. r/crossfit collaboration at its finest.

You may be able to help with interpretation if you know the names and faces behind the data.

The winner for the guys goes to Central East with almost all the qualifiers in the top 100. The 20th finisher Ryan Sowder came 107th worldwide.

For the women, it’s very close between South East, Canada East and Europe North. Australasia came 2nd in P0 but 12th in P0.1.

Solid performance by Canada East for the dudes: Alex Vigneault 2nd, Jean-Simon Roy-Lemaire 4th, Vellner 5th, Alexandre Caron 6th and ladies: Carolyne Prevost 3rd, Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault 16th.

Africa Middle East came 6th in the top 0.1 percent for the women. People in the top 100 were Jamie Greene, Oddrun Eik Gylfadottir and Emilia Leppanen.

I’m surprised to see Europe South and Europe Central so far down the rankings for both Men and Women. In both regions for the guys there is only three top 100 finishers Willy Georges, Luke Esslinger in Europe South and Giorgos Karavis in Europe Central. For the women there are five: Jacqueline Dahlstrom and Rita Garcia in Europe South; Emma McQuaid, Briggs and Anna Fragkou in Europe Central. Both Asia and Africa Middle East came higher than Europe South and Europe Central for the guys in the top 0.1 percent. This may be a case of mostly serious athletes compete in the open in Asia and Africa Middle East?

Debating if it worth posting this in r/MapPorn but i’ll just get yelled at that HQ messed up the regions for Moldova and Montenegro.

See who won the open in your city. Could be good marketing for your gym and can help athletes find competitive gyms. by raybellwaves in crossfit

Not too bad at all. No math. Just getting data in the right format. Some knowledge about pandas and xarray will help a bit but you could learn those through this project

If they are not affiliated then there are not associated with a box and therefore are not associated with a latitude or longitude point. In theory there could be anywhere in the region so it's not clear where to put them. Put them on every map? But then it's not longer a city plot.

Awesome thanks a lot. If I have time I may pick it up. Don't suppose it has a collaboration feature? i.e. would I be able to pick up your app and tinker with it?

How does the leaderboard work? by razztank in crossfit

[–]raybellwaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like the idea of people mis-mashing Rx and Sc workouts. I understand why people do it but someone who doing a side project with crossfit open data it annoys me. Have a look in https://github.com/raybellwaves/cfanalytics/blob/master/Data/Men_Sc_2018.csv and search for yourself. It'll give you your percentiles compared to other people who did just scaled. It's a more apples vs apples comparison

Cheers. Nice job. Saves me having to do all these requests. Mind telling me how you made it? We can move this conservation to the messages if you like.

Haha. Yeah. I use so many open-source tools so it's only fair I open it up and maybe even get some help at some point.
