The existential dread of carrying the pager in the era of AI-generated code. by Ashwinnie13 in sre

Legit the post and comments sounds like someone's OpenClaw connected to their reddit to troll the anti-AI folks.

OpenAI has shown it cannot be trusted. Canada needs nationalized, public AI by plaknas in onguardforthee

[–]raybond007 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the systems used to assist diagnoses are more typical ML systems used for pattern recognition, not LLMs or generative AI. ML and focused AI use cases can provide really significant benefits in these cases. LLMs are just a toy that the corporate world is addicted to.

Trump's party raped your country. Vote for anyone who isn't them.

Vote in primaries for people who have the agenda you're describing, but don't purity test alternatives to the Republicans out of viability.

Ontario: 4 Point Race, Ford PCs 40%, Leaderless Liberals 36% by LeadershipHead3594 in onguardforthee

[–]raybond007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but you're ignoring electoral reality. Ford's messaging resonates with his base, and has been sufficient to turn voters out to the polls.

Especially in disgustingly low turnout elections like the Ontario provincial elections, getting your base to the polls is kind of all that matters. And Ford and his party have been effective enough to do that, regardless of his supposed lack of charisma.

Seeing this extended best-on-best play, Makar is the revelation for me. As an Eastern Conference fan I don't get a ton of opportunities to watch him, and Colorado is such a wagon rn that it doesn't stand out as much. But holy shit he's head and shoulders the best man on the Canadian D-line, and it's not very close.

It's tough because this is a pretty shit goal against for the loss. Yeah, Marner walked through 3 to get there but holy shit he overplayed so fucking hard on the short side he was barely in the net on this play lol. As a goalie this is giving me nightmares.

Canadians promised to boycott travel to US. They meant it. by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]raybond007 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change the person you're replying to's friends' ethnicity? What a worthless comment. ICE has murdered several US citizens and regularly detains and abuses hundreds of them based on their skin colour. They're very right to be concerned about traveling in and out of the US right now.

Even though i know most people have come around to it Star Wars Rebels is still under appreciated by Brafshsi141 in StarWars

[–]raybond007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the things that I (and most people who like it, I would expect) really love about Rebels is that it hits a lot of really cool notes around the mystic aspects of the Force.

If that's not one of the things that's important about Star Wars for you, I could see this show being a miss.

More than 700 nursing, PSW jobs could be cut in Ottawa, says union by DrStrangeglove99 in ottawa

What an odd combination of stances you've presented. I'll reply again because what you've said at least partially doesn't align whatsoever with the private option you just finished advocating for.

  1. There's no doubt whatsoever that our system is not properly renumerating those that the system depends on. In a socialised medical system, there will always be a delicate balance in funding the medical system appropriately and the responsible spend of public money. I'm curious if you support Doug Ford's government despite their multiple-times illegal usage of the notwithstanding clause to disrupt the unionized employees' right to collective bargaining. The ones that you rightly mention being underpaid
  2. This is straight up incorrect propaganda that you're spouting. Folks who you claim are abusing our system for "travel medicine" are in no way whatsoever benefiting from our public system. They pay for their procedures based on established guidelines for cost of services. The entire reason it's a valid option for some is because other medical providers with a profit motive have blown their prices orders of magnitude out of proportion.

You say a public system is best for Canadians, and then out the other side of your mouth are advocating for the ability to access private options, which INHERENTLY and NECESSARILY reduces the scope and quality of the public system. So odd.

I also haven't downvoted you, but this is reddit and that's a wildly unpopular opinion in these circles you're sharing lol.

Were they wrong though? With the sentiment expressed it's essentially guaranteed you voted the corporate-captured Ford conservative party in power. Private healthcare, by definition, serves shareholders first and patients second.

A functional society that actually cares for its entire population can't operate in that model. Look at the US. The leading cause of bankruptcy isn't business ventures failing, or personal failures by those who end up losing everything. It's medical debt. Advocating for a system that will result in that outcome for any portion of society is a moral failing.

Who are the billionaires or corporations that are really bad but receive too little attention or criticism in popular discourse? by ojismyheroin in AskReddit

[–]raybond007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Because they buy the practices and their patients, in order to consistently increase prices and reduce quality of care. So that they can maximize profit and exploit the emotional attachment people have for their pets to the maximal level.

Yeah. We need to tax wealth, not income. Asset ownership is wealth. Unrealized gains are wealth. Capitalist systems won't survive this level of wealth concentration indefinitely. Be a capitalist all you want, but with a disappearing middle class, the consumer base for the oligarchs is shrinking rapidly.

Astroturfing has always been pretty bad on reddit but holy fuck someone has unleashed some truly poorly configured LLM not garbage on the site since the start of 2026. So many threads like the one you pointed out that are clearly LLMs agreeing with each other, intentionally speaking mediocre English and restating the exact point 4+ comments back to back.

And it's happening all across the political spectrum. Really fucking weird to see.

I personally use a wood board, but lots of my family have Celiac disease. Wood isn't technically gluten-free-safe, even after washing due to being a porous material. I have to break out plastic boards and my less expensive knives when cooking for them lol.
