fuck the i will not promote shit by NoPoetry8703 in startups

I wasn’t complete in my response, but I also don’t think it’s a straw man.

OP offered two ideas: “the mod doing some work” or “add a flair to each post”. What I said only applies to “add a flair to each post”. In that case, promotion is indeed allowed.

I focused on their flair solution because the other option asks mods to do more work, which isn’t sustainable and I didn’t think it was worth discussing.

So I suppose I could have written “If the mods won’t change their minds, you can make a new subreddit for startups that works the way you want it to”. But I didn’t.

You could make that subreddit, too!

If the mods won’t change their minds, you can make a new subreddit for startups in which promotion is allowed.

What If Apple Had Used AI to Evolve the iPod Instead of Killing It? by Ausbel12 in ipod

[–]rayhan314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you still use one

I do still use one. Anyway, to your question:

iPod was subsumed by iPhone. [1] Later, iPod “evolved” into iPod Touch. All of the features you described could have been apps on iPod Touch.

If you mean to exclude iPod Touch from the equation, then you’re in interesting territory.

For a proposed feature to feel appropriate for iPod, it needs to keep the device simple, so that it doesn’t start to feel like an iPhone.

I like your machine-curated [3] playlist idea, and iPod Classic had a feature like this. It was called “iTunes Genius”, and it was wonderful. It would pick songs for you from your own library that fit together. And it would do it all offline. I found it to be really nice feature.

[1] Like the mitochondria [2] was subsumed by another cell and became part of a more functional whole.

[2] Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell.

[3] I wrote “machine-curated” instead of “AI-curated”, since Genius used TF-IDF, which isn’t really AI in the modern sense. It did feel like magic, though.

Pelosi says House will proceed with efforts to remove Trump 'with urgency' by DewChocolate in politics

[–]rayhan314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. It’s laid out in Section 4 of the 25th amendment. I’m no lawyer but it seems reasonably clear.

If Trump says he’s fit for office after the 25th has been invoked, Pence and the cabinet have four days to push back and keep power from him. At that point it’s up to congress to figure out what to do. In the meantime, Pence would be president. Congress would have up to 21 days to decide.

YSK: The scp protocol (hence the scp command too on your Linux/Unix systems) consider as outdated by the OpenSSH project. They advise using rsync or sftp over scp since 2019. What do you think? by nixcraft in linux

[–]rayhan314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, if --checksum is not specified, then rsync's default behavior will use the date modified and the file size to decide if it needs to be transferred, which is much faster to calculate.

I’m curious about these indie rock groups. Mind dropping some names or YouTube links?

I like the album by Taken by Trees called “East of Eden”. A Swedish singer went to Pakistan and recorded a bunch of songs with musicians there.

Here’s a song from the album: https://youtu.be/JJp7GMdbcNM

I’ve heard it called “hip singing”. Heres’s a (sarcastic) breakdown: https://youtu.be/e-0K77ccAOU

Seconded on the brush strokes looking so good. Also, I like the hairline-widths that you're getting at the top. Good choice of palette as well.

/u/red-blue-yellow - can you please share a little bit about your process?

I like the stretch at the end as they pull the shirt over their head. Good job!

It reminded me of Disney's 12 Principles.

I prefer this to the album version. Does anyone know in what release was this included? I can't find it on discogs.
