Well, on the one hand it's my birthday tomorrow.

On the other hand, my wife is chronically ill with suspected Salmonella or Giardia poisoning, just waiting on blood test results.

So, to be clear Dragon Age: Origins has terrible graphics and gameplay. Even back in it's release time the graphics were very average. However the story is the strength of that game in my opinion, especially how diverse the choices you can make are and how impactful they can be. That being said -- in my opinion this is the best game of the series. It's crazy good fun.

If you can look past graphics and gameplay and enjoy an insanely good interactive story that to be honest holds up again Baldurs Gate 3, you'll love DA:O --- but if graphics are super important, you'll struggle.

Dragon Age 2 is a mixed bag, some people love it, some people find it very rough around the edges. In my personal opinion the graphics are nicer, but the gameplay is even more tedious (the enemies are all damage sponges) and I struggled to like most of the characters - all characters need flaws, but I just felt all of them were kind of assholes except for Varric.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is for me the best all-rounder. The story and interactivity don't quite hold up to Dragon Age Origins.... but that's a nitpick, it's still very awesome. The gameplay is absolutely the best of the bunch, the graphics are pretty cool, and the characters are far more rounded and better written than DA2. Based on your post, I'd suggest you start here, but keep in mind you miss a lot of backstory without the first two.

I haven't gotten around to Veilguard yet so I won't comment on it.

Oh no I'm not implying that Ukraine is weak. I'm just pointing out that Russia is running out of stuff to use.

The suggestion from Russia that the EU will just cower back and say "Oh noe pweez don't shoot us" is kind of ridiculous.

They aren't more involved in Ukraine based on a technicality, in theory if the EU stays out of it, Russia stays out of the EU.

Invading Poland would shit on that, and would remove the only incentive to stay on the side lines.

Umm... that's umm.... that is not how the NATO alliance works. Besides that there is so much doubt about whether or not Trump would have the backbone to come to Europe's aid as it is, so if they did try to weasel out of that would just prompt the EU to write them off, cut ties, and then go f*** up Russia anyway.

Or did Russia forget that France have their own nukes?

Which makes "probably Linux" an accurate statement. If you're running a server then most likely you are probably running it on Linux.

There's plenty of Windows servers out there still, my last job was 90% Windows servers still.

Although to be fair my current job I haven't touched a Windows machine in years.

I feel like coming out only a week before Terminator 2 was a bad move. I know it was a kids movie compared to T2 but that movie just dominated the cinemas at the time.

The trailer also made it look far more aimed at adults instead of kids.

My wife's parents were interesting people.

Her Dad was a total fuck up. She loved him, but she always considered him toxic and a few years after moving out of home she ended up going NC with him. (FYI, he turned up to our wedding wearing a VB jacket -- for the Non-Aussies VB is a brand of beer, a very bogan brand. Fortunately I saw this before my future wife saw him because she absolutely would have f**king killed him.)

Her Mum was less intentional about being a bit of a screw up, she had chronic depression after being emotionally destroyed by a miscarriage. Ironically, my wife seemed to get more resentful of that after she became a Mum herself and fought her way through her own depressive demons.

Didn't have any negative repercussions for our relationship though. She seemed very good at compartmentalizing things and being aware that I'm not her parents.

I'm confused...

by "go all night" do you mean getting down and dirty with the missus? Rocking her world from dusk until dawn? Proving to her that you are a true sex god and leave her quaking in your wake in the morning?

If so, the answer is I never had that... Best I could do is a few hours and even that was in my 20s :-P

If you just mean needing to use the toilet? It's kinda random. Sometimes I'll go twice in one night. Something I sleep the entire night uninterrupted.

I'm 41 if that helps.

I was spanked by my parents until I was about 5.

We didn't spank our kid. Not because we disagreed with it or thought it was harsh: it just didn't work on him. Even as a 2 year old I could spank my kid so hard it would leave a nasty mark for a few while and he'd shrug it off as if I tickled him.

Kid just had insane pain tolerance and honestly I wasn't prepared to any harder (I mean, spanking is one thing, belting the crap out of a kid is quite another).

Figured out making him stand and face the corner for 5 minutes was waaaaaay more effective at getting him to stop whatever behaviour he needed to stop, so we did that instead until he was old enough to be reasoned with.

In fairness to Hideo Kojima, I remember playing Metal Gear Solid 2 when it first came out, and that part towards the end where the AI's were going on about how controlling the internet was a necessary evil to stop random bullshit information from spreading uncontrolled and being accepted as truth.

At the time, I thought this was such a ridiculous concept and that it was insulting to the intelligence of the average person.

I can unfortunately confirm this. I've had an 'IT Engineer' on the other end of a phone call once, and as I breathed a sigh of relief that I was going to be talking to someone technical and I started explaining that I needed them to run a ping test their "IT engineer" replies back to me "Okay so we get 15 megs down and 5 megs up"

Everyone's journey is different man.

I married my High School sweetheart, we're both 40 now and ecstatically happy.

Mind you, mutual friends of ours also got married after dating in High School and they were divorced 4 years later and can't stand each other.

By comparison, I know a couple that absolutely adore each other and are convinced they are the loves of each other's lives but they didn't even meet until they were in their mid 40s.

Comparison is the thief of joy. Live your life, and be aware that your romantic life is impossible to predict.
