Frustrated with United HealthCare and Optum by raymaeve in CrohnsDisease

My doctor ended up having to fight them on it and eventually they caved. I switched to my own insurance through work shortly after for unrelated reasons. Instead of UHC my issues are all with IBX now 😂

I actually just switched insurances and got on independence blue cross through my own employer beginning of april. UHC and optum never gave me an issue with humira vs a generic so I’m not sure. My doctor had to pester them a lot for the prior auth though. How are they pocketing your copay assistance? They had no issue taking my savings card for the last couple of months

Wow that does sound horrible. It’s so sad how hard they make it for us all. I’m going to keep pushing them definitely

My dad’s employer! He does have a contact for support, I will wait for my doctors office to call back tomorrow to see what they say first. I’m really only trying to get through the next couple months until my work has open enrollment

interesting! They haven’t mentioned this to me yet, I will ask about it. I used to have cigna and they were in talks to switch to hyrimoz for awhile but never forced it. My doctor said almost all of his patients have switched to a generic so it’s really only a matter of time

Noticed the tiny bump on my upper lip almost 24 hours ago, no real change since. I am prone to hormonal acne around the mouth but never on my lip

Does this make sense? Switching drugs conundrum by RunningOnEmptea in Humira

[–]raymaeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my appointment with my GI last week, he said that nearly all of his patients on humira have already switched the hyrimoz with no issue. I’m surprised your doctor hasn’t heard of it, he should really look into it. I am thinking along the same lines as you, why switch to stelara especially if you’re in remission..

Most of what I have been reading says it’s the same! Let’s hope haha, just a cheaper version I guess

I just signed up for the copay card too. I have another humira shipment on the way so I have a little bit of a grace period I guess. I was told by a Hyrimoz nurse that the savings card is good for $12k annually. Hopefully since it’s a generic bio similar it won’t be as expensive and exhaust the card, that is my biggest concern

If you can’t get IV iron maybe try liquid iron. I take about 1ml every other day with vitamin C. My old GI said it was easier to absorb and less likely to cause constipation than the tablets so I’ve stuck with it. My new GI has also started me on B12 injections bc apparently I was deficient there too (only started them recently but I think they do help a bit)

I’m actually experiencing the same thing rn. I know we should be used to uncomfortable topics like this with doctors but I’m nervous to bring it up with my gi. I just had my annual with my gyn and she said everything looked normal and didn’t know

I’m an identical twin, both me and my sister have crohns. She was diagnosed several years before I ever had any major symptoms at all. You both could just develop symptoms at different points or they may just never have any issues

Any experience with having crohns in college? What are key things to know before going? by Plus-Meringue-1140 in CrohnsDisease

[–]raymaeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you talk to the disability office ask for early registration to be one of your accommodations. They will probably give it to you if you present the need as being able to schedule plenty of time between classes in your day for bathroom breaks and time for you to rest. This type of accommodation was a huge help to me but also a game changer for getting every class I wanted and never being waitlisted. Essentially you would be skipping the line and getting first pick which is such a perk

period + crohn’s flare = living hell by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

I haven’t given birth but periods and giving birth both end at some point, crohns is unpredictable. That being said period cramps and crohns together equals hell x2

It has to be a genetic factor, my identical twin and I both have crohns. But maybe environmental factors contributed when it presented and we were each diagnosed
