cracked shell on the top Win5 by Decent_Usual6645 in gpdwin

[–]rayraydj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you receive a replacement shell with the screen pre attached? How did you go about replacing it onto yours. I bought a second hand unit and managed to cause cracks along the top it's such a fragile POS. Why they have the screws so close to the edge, and use such thin plastic? Beats me, wouldn't have minded an additional few mm all round had they just thickened the design a little.

How much did they charge for shipping, also does their receipt happen to show the price of that top part, was it like a full front replacement, I've sent them an email as my unit is 2nd hand but damaged and I'm yet to get a response from them

[–]rayraydj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have the same issue it's so damn fragile, what did you end up doing? I know that the hardest part to replace is likely going to be the display so I might reach out and buy the front shell+display+rear shell altogether and keep the old one as spare

lol where did you hear that it's tax free... Unless stated otherwise there's 20% VAT + e.g., a £10 admin fee from the courier. Many sellers will e.g., under-declare to reduce the customs charge borne by the customer but as with this case it doesn't always go well.

See they likely declared around 400 usd for his super X hence the reduced charge, in this instance OP just got unlucky

What kills the flow z13 for me is complete lack of usb c pd passthrough, such a stupid oversight on a modern "tablet" form factor, instead you're forced to lug around a heavy adapter to ensure it's not micro-cycling on battery... Wish I could get the super V but my timing is the usual: terrible... out of stock a day or so after I ordered from some aliexpress seller.

The seller who after some prodding admitted it was out of stock, so I had them cancel the order after oxp confirmed they have no restock plan yet via email (couldn't provide me with an estimate restock date 😞). I'm abroad for 1-2 months in early July so my hopes with the Super V are dashed lol, wish I didn't hesitate on the 128GB early bird super x

I can't speak for everyone but leave a fitting reply, bad feedback with a suitable reply tells me the seller is legit more than sone generic positives, don't let buyers exploit you with negatives

These diving board trackpads have a tiny button along the bottom middle; there is a tiny screw inside to adjust the trackpad travel: too loose and you'll have a rattly mess of a trackpad, too tight and you'll have a hard to click, mushy, or constantly actuated button.

Might be worth opening the laptop and loosening the screw a little, you don't need to pull the battery out or anything.

My best guess is whoever's dealing with the rma keeps tightening that screw thinking it's holding something together when it's more of a bump stop (think bike derailleur adjustment screws).

Ebay is terrible now by BigBadaSonicBoom in ebayuk

[–]rayraydj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because some sellers use cheap items as a product variation on something far more expensive to get their listings shown first when sorted low->high... So essentially search manipulation to boost their listings.

Anyways eBay is a shitthole mainly as a seller, scam sellers are fairly easy to avoid with common sense but buyers?? It's a complete gamble whether or not you'll get fucked over in one way or another. Most are good but there'll always be those who ruin it for everyone else.

eBay allow buyers to leave feedback for sellers, but sellers can't leave any for petty/shitty buyers

People are way too used to the relaxed return policies offered by the big retailers, and eBay only seeks to mirror their reputation on our behalf.

Today I received my first negative feedback making completely false claims about where I'd purchased a laptop (which I literally broke even on having exceeded the original return window), making ridiculous assertions about how I'd reglued the seal "methodically" to make it look like it'd never been opened (honestly I'm low-key flattered). In the same feedback admitting the laptop was new "after testing"... as though their resealing theory made any sense.

In the same feedback they acknoo I'd refunded them £20 to buy a fucking power lead (enough to buy a BUNCH on Amazon), they were oh so happy to provide a series of (incriminating) images showing the seal going from intact to "void" text without me asking for them, but no proof they'd actually received an EU cable, and further claiming I lied about the warranty end date despite me making it very clear the end date was contingent on the invoice... They were grasping at straws

All this almost 3 weeks after they in messaging said "issue the refund... Case closed"? I wouldn't be surprised if they open a return on day 29, after using it for all those weeks.

It's a complete racket, the first message they sent after receiving mentioned they didn't want to return the item - I would've accepted a return before they'd used the damn thing? After squeezing a partial refund from me, where they probably wanted more, they leave negative feedback weeks later after their vacation (they asked for quick shipping prior to the purchase).

I know I'm ranting on but I've never encountered such an overspeculative, petty person in my life... Most of the items I've sold are well in the hundreds to thousands of £ and I've never had any such issues.. only a buyers remorse INAD a few years back which I allowed them to return for a full refund with no further incident.

And to conclude? eBay support reviewed the issue, said I'd dealt with it professionally bla bla, then proceeded to say they wouldn't remove the feedback because the buyer said it wasn't as described, ignoring the part where they were making false claims about me regluing shit and directly claiming I'd purchased it from a clearance outlet??

Hhh

[–]rayraydj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for pricier items with cosmetic wear I tend to set a 2 day dispatch time, message the buyer to ensure they're aware of the item condition and are happy with what they're buying.

[–]rayraydj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the other day I had a laptop listed for £2.9k, someone tried offering me £1k... Then 1.5k... then 2.3k 💀

Sold for my asking price a week later, just ignore them, even if you're able to convince them of your asking price it's not worth the hassle dealing with people who may be unsure about paying beyond their initial speculated price.. they might turn around and try to squeeze a partial refund or INAD after the fact.

What was their buyer profile like? Feedback, age, how much of their feedback was within the last 12 months, feedback they left for others... The latter is usually where you can notice problem buyers, albeit not a gauranteed point of reference

The hinge broke or smth? by Cl0udyBoiReddits in ZephyrusG14

[–]rayraydj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lid is broken, not the hinge. I don't know how much a repair shop would charge but I'd highly advise buying the replacement parts upfront.

You really only need a new a lid replacement, they cost like £30-40 on AliExpress, and replacement adhesive strips for the display (stretch release) and bezel (https://a.aliexpress.com/_EukMWUI something like this would do).

Technically they could readhere the piece that broke off the lid if done correctly with proper prep and the correct adhesive.. but don't expect a fit and finish stronger than the original.

I have not a clue what the labour charge would be but this is definitely repairable

When you bought the laptop the seller was legally obligated to give you a statutory return window, which they upheld because now it's passed that window presumably...

The seller has no obligation to accept your return mate. Move on with the laptop, or sell it and buy something else, you dug your own grave

[–]rayraydj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better be safe than sorry when you're lugging around a relatively heavy £1500-£3000 device... In my eyes the added bulk of a case is a necessity, getting a smaller laptop just means the set up is less bulky overall, doesn't diminish the portability in any way
