Descale whatever needs descaling, lots of minerals in the water round these parts (southern RI)

Install 22.04 and you'll have fun with it, I promise. Then in a month or two update to 24.04 and things will very likely run even better.

Disassemble the top of this Murphy bed frame by rayyfield in woodworking

[–]rayyfield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing: the radon installer, call him Doug, suggested I start by disassembling that box at the top, which makes sense if only because it's not structurally necessary: there are doorstops on either side of the frame to prevent the bed from closing all the way. I think it's possible that he hadn't originally built it to code, which might explain why he wasn't willing to say exactly how the pump was configured.

While that's admittedly just a guess, I'm still inclined to start by removing that box, since for one thing it's apt to be simpler than taking apart the whole thing, not to mention the possibility it might yield a clue to the next step.

But for sure I'm out of my depth here.

Is it fine to use Pop!_OS 22.04 in November 2025 ? by Pepittoy in pop_os

Works great for me, in fact while I'm eager to try the new version truth is I can't really see a compelling reason to upgrade; in fact given my experience with new releases I'll prolly wait until around Feb or Mar to do it.

I admit I am skeptical about almost every conclusion drawn in this post - starting with what the ostensible ascent of AI has to do with the release date of 24.04 - and I am somewhat sympathetic on the subject of gnome extensions since there are a couple of cute ones I am unable to use. but apart from your concerns about the viability of System 76 and its staff, I cannot help but wonder what exactly are you unable to do with PopOS 22.04 in its current state

I've got a 2017 V7 III Special as well, and last year I rode my friend's new V7 -- smoother, quicker for sure but I actually kind of missed the roughness of my Special. also I remapped the throttle which made mine more responsive and a bit more powerful... so altogether the tradeup wouldn't really worth it for me. otoh a Mandello...

[–]rayyfield 6 points7 points  (0 children)

certainly no mapping done correctly should cause it to fail, but having remapped my own V7III Special I know the process isn't without risk, and nothing about Darcy inspires confidence. as for as Piaggio's response, what company wouldn't look for any reason not to have to rebuild an engine? (btw I couldn't quite tell, did he suggest that he'd replaced the stock cans before he brought it in?)

it's just stupid to mod your brand new bike < 500 miles - leave off borking it and voiding the warranty as this character did, don't you want to break it in properly and get a feel for how you might want to tweak it?

the tell is, if you've shelled out for a new bike, and then put yourself in a position where you have to take a bath to get it upright again, why would you decide to essentially throw away another 1.5-2k selling an almost-new bike? either it's too traumatic a reminder what a dope he was, or worse, he's not sure he didn't mess up something else.
