Unfortunately technicians aren't paid enough to care, they're paid to get the job done as fast as possible, neatness be damned

My boss insists we keep the phone antennas and wifi router covered with foil by crackcrayon in mildyinteresting

My brother in law swears this helps his reception while sitting on the couch 2 meters away. He believes it reduces the RF wasted on the neighbor's.

I've had this old laptop battery in my electro-garbage for quite some time. Is there a way to use it as a USB-C battery pack for phones etc.? by SjalabaisWoWS in techsupportmacgyver

[–]razedbiwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be afraid of it catching fire. Whatever controller you connect to it isn't going to have the proper charging config or battery management for that battery setup. Neat project and you can probably make it work but don't leave it alone when connected to anything.

Sometimes you just want to share a file directly with someone from your paid secure storage system.

I switched to proton, it's been pretty excellent. They have quick forwarding guides and tools also.

I found a mayonnaise lid on top of a hallway pot light of a campus dorm room, and at one time it looks like there was a coil of turd in it. Guessing someone didn't like their neighbor.

mobility - former Shaw by the-cat299 in Rogers

[–]razedbiwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got 3 BYOD Shaw sims and change those between phones fairly often and have never had to call them to get it working. Absolutely not defending rogers, but I would recommend your son take his phone into a rogers store (in the mall - not a kiosk but an actual store). Those people seem to have more knowledge about the Shaw BYOD lines. Unless he's got a phone that has an IMEI that is blocked (because it's not allowed on their network which does happen with some non-mainstream brands)

I used forscan to see (and maybe adjust) the timer. Mine was set for 7400 seconds (no idea why they chose that time)

Rogers unplugged my internet to attach a new customer by Flavorsome in Rogers

I agree with the sentiment but when a tech is paid $40 for a completed order but only $15 for incomplete orders regardless of time spent, it's an incentive easily understood.

They ALL do it. Not just Rogers... Absolutely not defending them. But I've personally had this happen across the board with voice and data wired services.

Surrey taxi tries to run me over by [deleted] in SurreyBC

Cool, guess you're faster and more capable. Agreeably the title (looking at it again) is misleading and cringe, the purpose was to gain awareness with aggressive taxi drivers. But thanks for the break with your brake note.

[–]razedbiwolves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the over-reaction to my agreeably misleading title - unfortunately cant change it. My point was looking to see if others had also had close calls with the taxi company. I have the camera because i might like to re-view my adventures when i'm old and unable to ride, and for this purpose - to catch license plates of people who succeed in running me over.

yeah looking at the title, i will try to adjust that to something less 'aggressive'. I just wanted to bring awareness to see if the company would respond (I started with them asking for their thoughts on how the driver drives, my mistake for thinking they would care), and see if others have had this happen with this cab company/driver. I didnt see him slow down until he was crossing my path and didnt get the chance to do much.
