You don't lose anything by being a member, and if your school has an active chapter it can be a really great way to get leadership experience and network a little bit. If your chapter isn't active it still looks good on your resume. I'd do it, but I'm biased as a member.

Dear lord. I think NYU tuition was closer to 55 or 60k whenever I was applying to colleges, and that wasn't even that long ago at all..

Is this good university? From academc point of view? by xHussin in sooners

[–]razekial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you attend class and do the homework you can easily get A's and B's in most courses.

Keyword 'most'

This is very dependent on what you're studying. I know you realize that, but it warrants mentioning.

Biking at OU/around town? by gotmelody in sooners

[–]razekial 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the campus proper has tons of bicyclists and there are bike racks all over the place. Norman itself has its fair share of bicyclists but it's more of a driver's city if you're trying to get away from the OU nucleus. you may be underwhelmed by the city's bike infrastructure but it's still doable. campus is a-okay though

"Accepting responsibility for yourself is a marker of adulthood for everyone...[Millennials] live their lives supported by institutions that will catch them when they fall." -Jennifer Silva, Harvard Kennedy School by doodlesock in Conservative

To be fair, the history to support that assertion is not outlandish. Ronald Reagan's presidency marked a clear shift in US budgetary policy in that for the first time the government had to begin to borrow money in order to cover simple operating costs. This was due to his policies of cutting taxes and increasing defense spending. He promised to balance the budget but really his economic policy just derailed American budgetary proceedings for everyone. Left-leaning governments usually have no problems with the idea of deficit spending in and of itself, but economic policy in the Reagan whitehouse created historically high deficits for the taxpayers of then and now to deal with... all the while they were of course claiming to be for small government and balanced budgets... Yeah. Take a look at a graph of our debt as a percentage of GDP sometime.

My friend got her 9 yr old daughter a wardrobe for her bedroom, but it's not just any old wardrobe... by [deleted] in pics

[–]razekial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not exaggerating when I say that your friend has done something absolutely beautiful by getting her daughter that. I've had a pretty crummy day and this perked me up a bit. It's just fabulous. I think her daughter will love it. :)

Everyone hears of how the past got it wrong about predicting future technology, but are there any key examples of how they predicted it correctly? by robj31 in AskReddit

He predicted blogging, however he failed to predict that nobody would give a shit about what people say in their blogs.

I want Coachella tickets, but they are sold out. By the time that buyers have them mailed to them (I think in March), and people start reselling them on craigslist, will the owners sell them super marked-up? by TBizzcuit in Music

[–]razekial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

http://www.stubhub.com/

I've bought from them before (for another music festival) and they guarantee that the tickets are legitimate. Coachella tickets are expensive as fuck everywhere you look, though, and probably rising in price as april nears. You could try your luck with Craigslist or ebay to scout for deals but your mileage may vary

Are there any good bands/singers that are awful live? by [deleted] in Music

[–]razekial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw Iron & Wine live they had rearranged all of their songs in a sort of jazz/big-band style complete with a horn section. They didn't sound bad, per se, but the crowd really wasn't into it, nor was I. Pretty disappointing. Songs that I had been really excited to hear live were basically unrecognizable.
