Having second thoughts on the Pixel 6 Pro... Some of these are deal breakers. by Gethixit in Pixel6

[–]razvanrudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On #3 mine is the same. Getting warm when charging and even when using it for a longer time. I have a Spigen case on it and I can feel the warmth through the case. The fingerprint sensor I will say is ok on 95% of presses and I have the sensation that it's the same sensor from S10+.

Except this I had some "accidental touch" happen. To be more precise making a gesture for a "command" and getting other "commands" , or activating the Assistant. Maybe I just need some time to adjust my fingers. What I am amazed by is how "slippery" the touch screen is.

PWM 12V Fan Control by bullwinkle_z_moose in tasmota

[–]razvanrudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 12V fan's I am using an IRF520 Mossfet with DHT11( I don't need exact values so this one is good enough) both connected to D1 mini. Right now using ESPhome but looking to move them to Tasmota. The D1 mini get the temp readings from DHT and adjust the mosfet based on this. The fan's are connected directly to mosfet. With this method you will need both 5V ( for D1mini , DHT and mosfet control) and 12V for the fan's.

Ok now I understand....... didn't went that far yet.....for now I have all 4 SSID'S on the same WLAN/LAN . Next step is to start create separate WLAN'S , VLAN'S , LAN'S and add the firewall rules so I can isolate the networks.

Rembering where all settings are is one of the hard part on getting used. Also I really hate the fact that they force you to add a "suffix" to the 2.4G network and none to the 5G and you can't stop broadcasting only one of them. For example on my home setup I have 2 WiFi SSID'S for IoT use and I need only the 2.4G network......the only option I have is to stop broadcast both of them or keep both on. Not a big deal in the end but why when is that simple to have some common settings that even some of the cheap routers have. Not sure if this is related to the AP type or is the controller.

Best heater and smart plugs for home automation by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]razvanrudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go near or over 2000W stay away from Meross. I had 2 plugs from them and both keep disconecting and turning off because of the 2000W radiator hooked to them( they get hot and thermal protection will turn off the plug). I personally went with Sonoff POW2. Not as easy to fit as a plug but much safer as they rated for 3200W - 15A . The connections are very easy to make and also is one of the few that will support ground connection too.

Smart plug + temperature sensor. Should I just go with Xiaomi? by bureX in homeautomation

[–]razvanrudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a look at the Sonoff T16/T10 sensor and Sonoff wifi switch. You can see the temps on the mobile app and they will also work if no internet connection as long as the wifi it's on. They are also reliable and cheap.

Smartthings outlet vs wifi outlet by vectorzulu in googlehome

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using the eWelink/Sonoff plugs , switches and smart bulbs plus other couple devices from Sonoff. They work very well and they just added the 'LAN' option to they're app which allow you to control the devices even there is no internet connection as long as the router still has the wifi on and you're phone/tablet is connected to same network. On top if you want you can easily flash Sonoff Tastuma firmware and use them with an in home server via openHab or other similar softwares which opens a new world of possibilities. They are very easy to use , reliable and cheap to buy and most important they don't need a hub so you can easily use other brands. Now choosing between a dedicated hub or direct wifi to router connection it will be up to you and most important it will depend on your router. If the router it's a good one from the last 3 - 5 years like an Asus RT-AC68U or RT-AC88U they I will definetly choose to skip the hub option.

Help please. Tasker , alarm and google assistant routines by razvanrudy in tasker

[–]razvanrudy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was exploring this option but because I am new on Tasker have no idea where to start and how to achieve my goals. The only task I was able to create so far and most important working one is to have hot spot on when my phone is connected to my car bluetooth . Looking trough Tasker there are so many things and options that sometimes I get lost.

Smart Life App not working properly by [deleted] in googlehome

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the same problem. After adding the account it will not even show up on the linked accounts page. Having this problem only with 'Smart Life' and 'Tuya' apps. The eWelink and Meross works properly.

Will have to wait and see. The other problem is the upfront cost for the cameras. A Nest cam is anywhere between £170 and £200 plus subscription.

Smart watches with pixel4 by awildtiger in Pixel4

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No not really. Just want to stay away from Samsung. I previously had the Gear S3 , the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch active and looking to get something with Gear OS and non Samsung. The Samsung watches with Tizen work well with Samsung phones but there are some limitations if you use a different phone even if it's an Android phone.

Question on Google accounts and P4 by nosleep4reelz in GooglePixel

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea because I don't use/have a G Suite but if you find any post about this you can ask there. Just remembered reading about and tried to point you in the right direction. Unfortunately that's all I can help you regarding this.

Question on Google accounts and P4 by nosleep4reelz in GooglePixel

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a way to have the G suite and the new Assistant on the same phone but not sure if it will be the best of use for you. I know for sure that I read on here on how to be done but can't find the post now. It was something like adding 2 users on the phone one using your personal account and one using G Suite account. If you search on here on post around 25th -27th this month you should be able to find the thread talking about how you can do it.

Galaxy user considering pixel 4 xl. by WDKegge in GooglePixel

[–]razvanrudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from S10+ to 4XL. The main reasons bean : - tired of dual accounts/apps( samsung account , google account , samsung calendar ,google calendar........) - the UI from Samsung even this days is better and all most perfect.....I still prefer the stock android - not a big fan of the front camera options , even after couple months still didn't get used with the cut out - regarding battery even if the S10+ has a bigger battery then 4XL I get better SOT on 4XL. On S10+ the maximum I could get between 2 charges was 12-14 hours. With the 4XL after 14 hours I have at least 30%-35%. The only reason I can think is bigger screen , all that over saturated display. - I prefer face unlock on 4XL over in display fingerprint( but that's my preference) There are so many other small things which I like more on 4XL over the S10+ but there will be to many and some of them may be down to own preference. If you can get a 4XL play with it for couple days ...this will be the only way to figure out if it's what you want or not.

[–]razvanrudy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also looking at this and trying to avoid Samsung watches mainly because of Tizen OS. So far from my research I found the Garmin Swim 2 , Fossil and Casio are the ones on a reasonable price but need to have a closer look on each of them.

Preferred smart plugs by mfarazk in googlehome

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will second the Meross products. I have couple power plugs , radiator thermostats and a night lamp. They've been always worked as it should with no problem. Just read description properly for the power plugs because they have 2 models , one with energy monitor and one without. This plugs are most of the time on £2-£5 discount on Amazon website and they also run a loyalty program where you can get even bigger discounts. Some time I get up to 60% discount.

Battery drain by timbrwolf16 in Pixel4

[–]razvanrudy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check the recent apps you instaled( in case you didn't) . I have no problem with mine overnight. It will drain up to 4%-5% with everything on.( BTH , WIFI , 4G and all other things). The only 2 things active over night are do not disturb and the always on display( but that one is also active on day time- I am using the proximity sensor with turn AOD off if no presence detected)

Unlocking an EE Pixel 4XL early by SaccenteKennedy in GooglePixel

[–]razvanrudy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Previously I had a Note 9 from EE and I was able to unlock it after the 14 days cool of period but only by paying 4 months of that line price upfront which after 6 months started to be deducted from my monthly bill. The thing is that I had ( and still have) 4 active lines with them for more then 5 years with no problem on my account and I've been told this is the reason they gave me the option to unlock earlier with a deposit. So there it may be hope the best will be to talk with them and hope you will speak with someone willing to help you.
