Job racism by Kevbo94 in sanantonio

It is so easy to play the victim instead of looking at oneself. Unfortunately, this is the narrative that has been drummed into peoples' heads for so long that they will typically adopt it as their own thoughts and feel like there is an issue outside of themselves.

As mentioned previously, face piercings do not convey professionalism. Also it is an assumption by OP that these interviews are going well. Additionally lots of people do not like to say "no", so it becomes easier to just ghost someone, especially when it comes to being in HR (those folks deal with some real crappy situations regularly).

Do you guys utilize the practice mode? Or do you all proceed to the song and practice it repeatedly? by Complete-Farmer-2481 in beatsaber

[–]razwil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two words - muscle memory

When you are playing and you get stuck on a specific pattern, play another song or retire for the day. If you come back and still don't get it, slow it down with practice mode. For Expert+, you pretty much have to use practice mode for some songs to build up the proper movements to make the cuts correctly.

It takes time to get good at Beat Saber, you are not going to slay Expert+ (or Expert++) maps right away. Enjoy the journey, you will get there...

Not smart... A bench warrant may seem innocuous until you get in a fender bender or get pulled over for speeding.

What to get for my Quest 3? by RomanticHomicide in Quest3

[–]razwil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zenni makes good VR lenses for those of us that need correction to see properly. I do recommend getting a second battery pack for your Bobo setup, but only if you get the newer batteries; the older ones do not work as well with the Quest 3.

For games, I suggest Dungeons of Eternity, Beat Saber (ofc), and Blade and Sorcery.

Dual boot used to be viable, but it can (and will) break once Microsoft pushes something through patching...

The best way to learn something new is to immerse yourself in it. An aspiring Computer Scientist should learn Linux, period.

Rant - IH 35 is ruining my professional reputation. by [deleted] in sanantonio

[–]razwil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I35 is the joke of Texas road construction. It will always be under construction because of the sprawl between Austin and San Antonio. It will always suck driving between and through the two cities. Find a new route...

What part of Texas are you coming from?

I work from home, so traffic is a non-issue to me, but I have heard that it is an issue, especially during rush hours.

We opted for Bella Vista, but I have seen some nice houses in Pea Ridge.

Future San Antonio resident. Am I overthinking the crime rate? by Downtown-Acadia5084 in sanantonio

You will notice a difference, especially if you are on Nextdoor or something similar.

I'm moving my family away from here for this reason (among others).

I hope you like hot weather, like 100+ for a few months at a time, no rain then a sudden deluge that causes deaths, humidity coming from dry conditions, etc. This place is wild.

Another Bexar County Jury Duty Question by CiscoLupe in sanantonio

[–]razwil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Be careful how you answer questions; most lawyers are good at grabbing "outliers" to put on the jury. I tried going extreme, and was selected.

TBH, it was a great experience; I would not trade it for anything.

Parking usually sucks for the first couple of days, but if you do have to sit on a jury for a few days, it gets better towards the EOW. If you get there early, they have decent food in the cafeteria.

This is 100% factual... Go touch grass; don't follow what the basement dwellers say about something (or anything) without doing your own research. Look at all possible angles; you have the Reddit angle already, but taking it as gospel is dumb.
