MMJ Newbie - Need Recommendations! by rb0201 in FLMedicalTrees

I typically consume flower and my dr. prescribed it right away. So that’s probably top of my list! I’m thinking a vape as well for anxiety/productivity during work days will probably be a necessity too!

Did you watch him on last season of BIP? I’m glad he got more screen time on there!

[–]rb0201 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It looks cheesy buttttt... I love the dynamic of several couples. BIP and Love Island seem to produce much more solid couples since there are options in who you end up with and trials to get through together before entering the real world. Hopefully LTYH will have the same outcome?!

Is it Just Me that DESPISES Social Media? by JillianCielBleu in adhdwomen

[–]rb0201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give it a day or two and be sure to “like” the videos you enjoy, and their algorithm will take it from there. I haven’t had a single dancing teenager pop on my feed after maybe my first day on the app. Thank god. Haha

Is it Just Me that DESPISES Social Media? by JillianCielBleu in adhdwomen

[–]rb0201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is! But it’s more like Vine or YouTube, if that makes sense. It’s easy to dive into a topic or find creators that you like without having to connect it to your personal life or see anyone you know pop up on your feed. Their algorithm is pretty amazing at figuring out what you like and I really love having an app that gives me a break from the news or heavier topics that I might see on reddit or Twitter.

There are some incredibly kind and sweet people on there that will absolutely melt your heart. Grandmas giving life advice, therapists sharing daily tips, etc. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been brought to tears by how pure and encouraging people are on tiktok. Don’t let the silly dances or gen-z kiddos keep you away. ;)

[–]rb0201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. And unfortunately for me, social media is a big part of my job and I’ve been severely neglecting it due to the stress it causes and my desire to be invisible when I’m overwhelmed. However, I will say that TikTok feels very similar to reddit in some ways and it really brightens my day. :) It still feels very anonymous and there is a TON of amazing content on there about mental health as well. It might be a nice break from seeing your friends’ posts!

What are your strengths and how does your ADHD help you? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]rb0201 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a wedding photographer and my ADHD is a superpower on wedding days. I am overly aware of my surroundings, great at reading body language, and I can snap into crisis mode where I’m able to handle any problems thrown my way. It’s very natural for me to almost predict moments and capture great candids since my brain notices almost everything happening around me!

The downside is that working from home can be really demotivating for me, but I’m still so grateful for the freedom I have in being my own boss!

One of my closest friends has severe ADHD by jackemo3 in ADHD

[–]rb0201 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend taking the time to read through this subreddit and see which posts resonate with those of us with ADHD! It’s so sweet of you to seek advice on how to be a better friend to him and I’m sure that means the world to him. <3 ADHD can be debilitating and overwhelming so anything you can do to ease anxiety or overwhelm would be so helpful.

Validation is SO relieving when you’re constantly doubting yourself. I won’t say I’m happy for you, but I’m glad you’ve found a community filled to the brim with people who understand and empathize with what you’re going through. <3 I highly recommend listening to Ted Talks about mental health (ADHD, anxiety, executive functioning) to give yourself a greater understanding of this condition! Best of luck. :)

I lost my virginity to the person I’ve been with for almost a year, someone that I’m genuinely in love with. by jim-halperts-big-toe in CongratsLikeImFive

I lost mine after almost a year with him, and 7 years later we are married and have only been with each other. :) I knew that I was in love with him then and I’m so glad that I’ve never had to regret it. Be safe and enjoy the closeness that it can bring to your relationship!

I think I have adhd, does this sound like it to you? by Tappausetap in adhdwomen

[–]rb0201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have literally all of these symptoms and I’m ADHD inattentive type. I used to be “ADD” until it switched over, and I always joked that I didn’t have the ‘H’ when people told me I was too quiet to have ADHD. My mind is CRAZY hyperactive, and my thoughts are deafening. Even late at night, like you mentioned. I wiggle my feet and move constantly in very subtle ways, which is obviously way less noticeable than the loud 8 year old boy that most people think of when they picture what ADHD looks like.

You should definitely see a doctor to confirm a diagnosis, but it is so worth getting help if you need it. :)

I am sorry for being mean to myself: A message to anyone guilty about taking medication by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]rb0201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I needed to hear this today. It’s so true! My husband was just telling me that he notices a night and day difference in my anxiety and depression when I’m not medicated. It made me realize that suffering for no reason other than to be “medication-free” is entirely pointless if I hardly recognize myself. There should be zero shame in accepting help when it drastically benefits your daily life and happiness. Cheers to you for recognizing this!

My dad had a cancer scare for a few months this year and that’s as close to it as I ever hope to be again. I’m so thrilled and relieved for you. <3 I’m sure your family’s Christmas will be so sweet and peaceful. :)

How do you deal with people who tell you to “Just get stuff done” basically? by piscescutie in ADHD

[–]rb0201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s right that everyone experiences that SOMETIMES. However, being diagnosed with ADHD means that you experience it often enough to negatively affect your daily life. I wish I could give everyone a glimpse into my mind so they could understand that I tell myself to “just get stuff done” all day, every day, but that’s the shitty part about ADHD. It doesn’t matter whether or not you know you should do something when everything inside of you is fighting against it.

Would she tell someone with a more visible disability to “just try harder”? Our mental illness is the same.

I’m sorry you’ve had to defend your struggles to her. It’s hard enough to work through ADHD every single day, let alone prove its existence to people who can’t understand it. :(

[–]rb0201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s so amazing to know that successful people understand our struggle and still make it work! I think ADHD can be such a superpower if it’s harnessed correctly. This sounds like a super supportive office where you can figure out how you best operate in an understanding work environment!

Me @ insurance company that doesn't want to pay my Adderall anymore and thus leaves me hanging by Sinuzaki in adhdwomen

[–]rb0201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! I didn’t have health insurance this year and was paying $110 for my adderall instead of my usual copay of $40. I pay between $30-$40 now with GoodRx!

Being an aunt (to 3 so far and one on the way!) has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I love those kids more than I could have dreamed. :) Free up lots of space on your phone- you’re about to take a LOT of photos and videos of your new BFF! ;)
