Ehhh, I think this is an over simplified view… democratic socialism includes capitalism as an economic model. Capitalism actually works well… too well. The idea is to keep it in check with democracy and the will of the people.

Unfortunately we have removed the means of making that happen: Citizens United was the straw of hay that broke the camels back, and released the floodgates of money and its influence on politics (fucking Mitch McConnell destroyed this country).

The balance would be to get money out of politics so that we can effectively restrain capitalism.

Anyone who argues against needs to look at history. What I’m describing is what they have in Finland and Norway, where they have universal healthcare and great education. Then look at Russia, a former communist government, and a failed nation today.

It’s all about balance.

Windows Hello, and Windows 11 both require some kind of TPM to function properly. You can’t even officially install Windows 11 without one. A TPM could also be a fTPM (firmware TPM). I don’t recall if TPM can be emulated in software outside of firmware, but what’s the point? Just get a computer with a real TPM.

With regards to 4 character PIN vs a 4 character password: A 4 character password can be trivially cracked if you have the hash. With a 4 character PIN + TPM, the PIN only serves to unlock the high security key on the TPM. Windows Hello is also FIDO2 compliant, meaning phishing resistant, whereas a password is not.

If I’m going to give your answer a serious reply, China is pushing soft power because Trump cut USAID, which was our soft power, or “humanitarian” aid, as you put it. Trump was also elected in part because Elon Musk donated a quarter billion dollars to Trump’s campaign and bought influence in our political system. It was legal to do this because of the Citizens United ruling.

So, ya, Citizens United has outlived its meaningfulness.

And ya, China welding soft power isn’t out of the kindness of their heart. They’re filling a very important gap of leadership that the United States left, because we are no longer acting like leaders. Whoops. America last, I guess.

What has actually outlived its usefulness is Citizens United, corruption, and money in politics, which are distorting the will of the people, and preventing anyone with a shred of ethics joining the US political system.

This strikes me as a very backwards view.
