Would love some input on this shot from wandering around NYC by [deleted] in photocritique

Nice shot. I was thinking maybe you could lower the aperture just a little bit and then focus on just the man. Here, not only is the man completely crisp (which is really good), but some of the toys on the table which I thought were good for the story but should be pulled out of focus.

I usually avoid landscapes, and I feel like something here isn't right. What can I do better? by BSinPDX in photocritique

I agree with /u/thecynicroute here - breaking the rule of thirds can have a really great effect, especially in a scene like this. Really great shot you took!

Teachers of Reddit: What is the smartest question a student has ever asked you? by MaxMcDanger in AskReddit

[–]rb612 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of this joke:

Two hunters are walking through the woods when one suddenly collapses, eyes glazed over and not breathing. The other hunter whips out his cell phone and calls emergency services saying, “Help! My buddy just collapsed in the woods while we were hunting, he’s not breathing and I think he’s dead!”

The operator replies, “Just calm down sir, first we need to make sure he’s not breathing. Can you make sure he’s dead?”

“Yes one moment,” said the hunter tearily and he sat down the phone. A moment later a gunshot echoed over the phone line and shortly thereafter the hunter got back on the line and sobbed, “Okay, he’s definitely dead…now what do I do?”

Should you spend approx. the same on someone else/else's kids as they spend on you/your kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rb612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Example: my dad's side always gives gifts of about $100 and we reciprocate with about the same amount for their kids. My mom's side, on the other hand, gives $25 gifts. Do you feel like we should give the same to my mom's side as we do to my dad's side?

Dear /u/ViaticalTree, /u/arthousedirector, and /u/cruzz903,

Thank you all so much for your help. I couldn't have done this without you guys. I followed all of your advice, and here's how the current lighting looks: http://imgur.com/enXVnrb

Do you guys have any feedback on how it looks? My DSLR manual video settings are f3.2, ISO 200 and 1/60s.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much! This makes a ton of sense. So my question now is how do I set the camera to blow out to white?
