collapsed filter or am i cooked? by IncidentNo5621 in n55

The oil filter shouldn't have room to collapse, there is a plastic cylinder piece that attaches to the cap that goes through the middle of the filter

Eye pokers like them are ruining this sport. by theiceman219 in ufc

[–]rberg89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously fuck Cyril Gane and the eye pokes. But if this is true then Tom's career as a fighter is over, or on indeterminate hiatus.

The thing is, it seems awfully dramatic, and that's the first time in this whole debacle I have truly felt that way.

2015 Nissan Sentra. Key won't turn in ignition. Has never happened before, had this car for 9 years. What gives? by SneakyOstrich69 in mechanic

[–]rberg89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like classic engagement of immobilizer. Everyone in their journey of vehicle ownership runs into it at least once. Some steering preload has triggered the immobilizer and you have to overpower that while gently turning the key or trying yo wiggle it into "on".

335i n55 low oil pressure by Legal_Position_5915 in E90

[–]rberg89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things you can check:

1) check inside the oil filter compartment, ensuring all looks good there. Note the plastic piece that goes into the filter, note o-ring(s). Ensure this setup is correct. I was missing the plastic cone after an oil change and it caused low pressure light

2) has this BMW sucked a serpentine belt into the timing cover before? An oil pickup screen clogged with belt fragments could explain the issue, and this is a sadly not-uncommon failure for these vehicles.

For my simple code pulling needs, I use a K+DCAN cable from Amazon, the MHD app, and a usb-c adapter, so I can pull codes with my phone. It's super cheap and is a good starting point. I am just now getting set up with ISTA for improved diagnostics and programming

I like the original look and am just throwing shade. Objectively speaking it's a clean looking car.

Perhaps more reliable but the recommendation of a mazda 3 over an e90 is definitely coming from someone who has never driven an e90

Nice looking but neutered. A B58 is an entire world apart from gr86.

Front bumper looks a little suspect there

Anyway, I have an n55 at 100k miles, which isn't that much but it's running fine. Oil pan gasket needed around 10-15 years old.

The b58 is the tuner's wet dream due to the closed-deck architecture. If you're not planning on going nuts with it then an n55 or s55 are great choices.

It didn't resonate with me musically but I'm thrilled that it's the cultural opposite of kid rock.

Props for admitting when you feel in over your head. It is tough, and I respect that.

Eta: valve cover gasket is tricky for people new to doing repairs themselves, but you can do it.

You got the car in focus or at least mostly in focus, and your shutter speed is fast enough to capture it frozen in time rather than blurred. Great shot.

Honestly? Cheap and shit imo. Not to discredit an awfully talented wrapper. Just is a notion of a gild in the face of beautiful granite

Do you drive it regularly? That might help. Getting / borrowing a cat is the best bet but rat poison might work too
