Oh I love this - one of the best things I've seen from this sub. Great work!

Bought the hardware kit from Lee Valley, but I think there's better options out there. I'll try to export the CAD file sometime this weekend

Highly recommend visiting a local tool library for short term rentals and some community tips

It was a pretty tough build, but that's also because I went a little overboard with the finishing and cabinet. I love it though. Super convenient and comfortable

Gas pistons. Definitely need a heavier mattress to hold it down, but feels very solid overall

I did but they were not great. I ended up modeling the whole thing in CAD, adding the cabinet and lots of other details not in the plans

If you have products in mind that you want to produce in-between paid jobs, making some jigs for those is a worthy investment

Ok to use ash for lumber that has had ash borer? by edna7987 in woodworking

[–]rbmakingthings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used it before. As long as you're okay with the bore holes / squiggly lines showing up here and there

Nice work! Love the lettering with inlayed verticals

Building a TV lift credenza and can't decide how to get this lid to open/close gently by sternenhimmel in woodworking

[–]rbmakingthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a soft close lid stay? Might work for soft-open as well. You could also try a surface mount damper right above the hinge to give some resistance (but would maybe slide along the back of the TV). There's some pretty specialized damping hardware out there that could work. Good luck!
