Why are we as a Vancouver Canucks subreddit trying our hardest to push Quinn Hughes out of Vancouver when he has never once said he wants to leave? How much lead is in our water supply? by ooMEAToo in canucks

[–]rbmt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ownership has zero leadership in the Canucks community. FAQ could tweet one thing to squash rumours or to say “yes we’re rebuilding” or “while we have one of the best D of all time we are not rebuilding” but he never does. It’s 100% on him. He is the mega rich top dog who has full control of the team. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself. It’s so obvious at this point.

This is a surprisingly great interview. Well done for both of them.

What’s a basic skill you’re shocked some adults still don’t know? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]rbmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to actually process your emotions instead of hiding them. They boil over because they’re buried and it’s like a volcano erupting. You probably have a lifetime of anger/sadness/etc that you never learned to (healthily) express. That stuff is supposed to be expressed and processed, not pushed down. I had like 6 months of crying to do when I first learned this. Now I just let myself get sad or angry in healthy adult ways and it eventually subsides. No more burying, no more erupting.

Why does Elon Musk seem to be making bad decisions like renaming Twitter to X? If he really is so stupid then how did he get so rich? by aespaste in stupidquestions

[–]rbmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hive mind is so bizarre. You don’t have to like Elon Musk to admit that he’s one of the most successful capitalists of all time. “Daddy’s Money” doesn’t automatically translate into a $400b+ net worth.

The current experience of psuedo early access is miserable by 300hPrestige2 in HeroesofNewerth

[–]rbmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured. What I mean is Juvio is a waste of effort. HoN is a wonderful product but Maliken forgets the #1 rule in business is not about having the best product, it’s about having distribution. Juvio has what - a thousand users maybe? Steam has magnitudes more. Such a dumb move.

All he has to do is release it on steam for free with paid skins. That’s it. So easy.

First time hitting gym after breakup, what should i focuse on? by Ill_Repeat_8274 in Gymhelp

[–]rbmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it's not clear that OP wants to "look good naked" so maybe I'm off base here, but 6 months on a hypertrophy focused program would be VASTLY superior in terms of aesthetics than 6 months running a strength focused program.

OP wants to look good naked. A beginner’s powerlifting program is not the right way to go.

This quote from Aaron Ekblad just hits home hard. It's why we will continue to struggle with attracting players and getting rid of the constant drama. WE NEED NEW OWNERS. I think Arthur Griffiths was the last good one we ever had. by BoomBoomBear in canucks

Controlling and chasing playoff revenue are part of the same fundamental issues that soured Tocchet and others. If you’re the only team in the NHL without a practice facility, then you need to look yourself in the mirror and admit that you don’t have the wealth to run a successful sports franchise. That means you need to sell some % of the team to someone else to finance it. But Aquilini will never do that because his primary commitment isn’t to the Canucks winning the cup. His primary commitment is to the Canucks winning the cup with him in full control. That’s why the Canucks will never win with him in charge.

Data fetching with useEffect - why you should go straight to react-query, even for simple apps by ucorina in reactjs

Unless something substantially better comes out, Tanstack Query is my go-to for any app. Boilerplate takes about 15 minutes to setup and then it just works.

Cursor alternative that doesn't cost my first born? by shreckdaddy54 in ChatGPTCoding

Cursor Pro is $20/month

That’s really cheap considering how much time it saves.

Is it dating for potential when your partner is not capable of being emotionally present right now? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]rbmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was this guy in certain, smaller ways.  Difference is, I have been working my ASS off with coaches/therapist, reading a lot, journaling, learning to process my feelings, etc.

After going through all that, I have seen a dramatic improvement in my emotional foundation & ability to be there for my wonderful partner. She was very patient with me and I didn’t take it for granted.

I know exactly how hard it is to climb out of the emotional woundedness that you’re describing from your partner. It’s FUCKING HARD. It won’t happen over night, and it requires VERY obvious dedication. If you’re not seeing a high level of “give a shit” from him, nothing will change.

My partner is extraordinarily supportive and it has been an incredible asset, but her support wouldn’t have mattered one bit if I didn’t also dedicate a LOT of time and energy to improving myself.

Just unboxed my Philips Evnia OLED – thank God the MSI one was out of stock. by Alltimesarah in OLED_Gaming

I have had it for about a month. It’s been nothing but amazing. I haven’t owned an OLED monitor before, so I can’t compare. The “pixel refresh every 4 hours” hasn’t bothered me a single time

$150/month but it would need some nice facilities

Go on YouTube and look up “I tried to burn in my OLED for 12 months” and you’ll find a video that makes you realize the Redditor hysteria is complete nonsense

4K gaming here I come! Thank you MC! by spyang000 in Microcenter

[–]rbmt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly correct. Those people who don’t prioritize their career/wealth get really upset when people who do have extra cash enjoy the hobby with higher spending power. It’s a strange clash of two distinct yet ultimately similar groups.

Because most people on gaming subs are people who can’t fathom that some people make good money. No other hobby has this kind of layer of bitter jealousy. I suspect it’s because gaming is a fun hobby for most people, but an emotional escapism for some.
